I've been trying to figure out how to build necromunda terrain. 3d Industrial is fairly easy, ladders are hard.

Until I turned around in the hobby store and saw something I'm not usually interested in - scale train track. It's not quite proportioned right for 28mm ladders, but it's close enough that you can see what it's supposed to be.

I started assembling the models. Over all I'm really quite happy with them a lot more weapon options than I expected. every model having separate hair bits is a little odd, but it works. The eschers are easily the best women GW has ever done in plastic, and they have a nice selection of weapons, and a big coat to give to the leaders.

The goliaths have managed to be the orkiest thing that GW has ever done. Just so many different bits of silly improvised hardware. My favorite is probably the giant wrench, with a knife stuck to it being used as a hammer.

if only there was one more sprue of each in the box. They gave enough to build all the characters needed for the scenarios in the book, but there aren't any extras to mess around with the extra options or recruit your own gangers.

Great googly moogly... I really hope that what I have been reading about the release schedule is somebody taking the michael.

One book for each gang - with ancillary rules. So, next book is Orlocks and the rules for Scum. For $30.

Yep - feeling glad I did not run out and pre-order Gang War at this point. Thank you Reaper! Your Black Friday sale prevented me from making a pretty big mistake!

That said - the figures look fine, and it is quite likely thatwe will buy the gangs themselves - and using the old rules.

Really big art supply stores carry materials for architects to make models out of, which includes plastic ladders in multiple scales.

the box set might not be a bad idea if you like both gangs, just because it has 2 nice terrain sprues and some templates and stuff.

but unfortunately it looks like I also may be using the old rules because we have 2 cranky people in my group who are very opinionated about target # vs. stat +chart.

My complaint is that they are dribbling out incomplete rules in dribs and drabs by way of overpriced book.

They are talking YEARS to get the complete game.

I like the figures okay - Grump REALLY likes them, but hnow that we have seen the rules, I am not as enthused.

I'd rather talk Grump into running GorkaMorka again!

I think that it is, in part, a hold over from the paranoia of the previous CEO - Kirby was utterly convinced that having rules for anything that does not have an OfficialTM GWTM ModelTM  was leaving a hole for somebody to steal money from GW.

And was, unfortunately, a bit of lunacy that he shared with his shareholders on a regular basis.

So, rather than come out with complete rules, but an incomplete line of miniatures, they are going this route.

Whic... does not make it any less stupid, I'm afraid.

So, yeah... I am thinking that the old rules, or the living rulebook thereof, are good enough for running a campaign.

The Auld Grump - I would post a link to Yak Tribe - which hosts the Living Rulebook for the older version of Necromunda, but not sure of the forum rules on such a link.

Grump? Lemme get this straight:

The box provides basic rules, NO threedee rules or terrain, and an Escher and Goliath gang... right? No rules for the other gangs?

The Gang War book provides more information on those two gangs, AND the threedee rules.

And then we're going to have separate codexes for each gang, like WH40K now does for each faction?

I just lost interest.

Exactly. Give me the game. Make it 100% playable out of the box.

Yeah... they have snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. (If true - there is still a possibility that things will be different than rumored. But... it is GW.)

If the mumblings I have heard are true... managerial meddling is to blame - the Studio did up the full rules, and then somebody had a brain fart.

Still, the minis look fine - I kind of want to blow the dust off of my Fallout game, and use the figures for an RPG. (Goliath will be a weird variant of Super Mutant, I think. Escher are just female Raiders.)
