I started on it 2,5 years ago, and first finished it now. Turns out having a child takes up a LOT of your free time.. Who would have guessed? :rolleyes:

 

It is the Bones version from the first Kickstarter. I had to have it when I saw it, as I think it is the most amazing dragon sculpt I've seen! Comments and critique very welcome!

Very nicely done.  One of these days mine will get painted too. I agree that he is one of the nicest dragon sculpts around.

Aah, the satisfaction of removing a piece from your 'semi-painted shelf of shame' (this is the worst shelf there is.. Oh the accusing, damning looks those "semi-finished"s give you.. Shudders) ..

 

... And the result is thus... You have reason to celebrate Sir!

If you look carefully, there's a snake in there, coveting the eggs. You can just make out the eyes in the picture! :D

The scales were a major undertaking, with 4 layers on top of the base, and by far the most dearing task of it all. I focused by taking each part in turn, to keep focused (I never glue a model together before painting). But all that work also means it will be some time before I paint something scaled again... :P And I will likely try out two brush blending next time, as to see if I can improve on myself.

The wings were the last thing I did. I was really in doubt as to what color I should pick for the interfemoral membrane, so it took some time and some googling for inspiration. Same goes for the belly armor - I thought about doing it in the same colors as the wing membranes, but in the end settles for what you see here, simply because I thought it looked good enough on the finished model. ;)

Heh, yeah, looking at it thinking "Oh, I will just pick this up and paint 200 scales more!" was quite a wall to overcome! :D And now I will go back to my semi-painted shelf, because things have hobbled up in the mean time, and I have promised myself to paint some of those before I start on some new Bones..

The scales and wings turned out amazing.  Looks like time well wasted. lol.  My copy must of come from latter in the mold cause he was a little butter face.  lol.  Still good enough for table top though.  My only wish about the model is that I wish it was bigger.

      Looking for suggestion on which of the Bones dragons would be a decent match for the Pathfinder Cloud Dragon for use in the next book of the Giantslayer campaign that I'm currently running. I have maybe a month or two before they encounter this bad beast.  He is considered an Adult dragon, size: Huge.

      My friend is playing a fighter in a Pathfinder game, so I decided to take a break from my Batman game to paint up a figure for her, though I decided to paint two.  
       
      I asked her what her favorite color is, and she said "Blue", so I painted up a mini with lots of blue.  If I paint her again I think I'd pick out the fleur-de-lis in a different color, to make it stand out some more.

      Finally finished something for myself - woohoo! One of the set of Rocky baby dragons from Bones IV.  Went with a red scheme on this one.  Not going to win any awards with all the mold lines I missed!  Was supposed to be a quick speed paint, and yeah, that didn't happen.  Anyway, though he turned out pretty good, although the pictures don't show the highlights on the red.  Tried three different set-ups and still looks flat here.    Ah well.

      So my favorite inlaw and I were talking  Saturday morning, and she mentioned to me that she really wants me to paint her a dragon.  One thing lead to another and before you knew it, she was picking Blighfang out of the bones catalog.
       
      She then asked if it would be possible to base the colors on a favorite tea set, to which I really agreed because it's a little unusual

      I made a quick mock up that got the approval

      It didn't take me long to get to the store and pick up a dragon.w
      Last night I sat down and did the assembly.  There were a few gaps but nothing major. 
      Today I had about an hour to play with it, so I spent it using some Stynlrez to prime and sketch in my colors.


       
      Still really rough, and not really the blue-black I want to end up with, this is mostly a color sketch done really fast work the airbrush so I have something to start with. Pretty much everything from here will be brush work.  I'm a little on the fence about the yellow in the membranes, though I really like it on the belly.
