Question the 12th of September: When it comes to painting resin: which manufacturers do you like, which do you dislike, and why?  Remember we are not here to bash other companies, but not all resin is created equal.  (thanks to knarthex for the question!)

I had to pull out my inventory list to see what I even had.  I was on a resin kick before the move, but most of these ended up in a box from which they have yet to escape.

Ax Faction - Made a decent sized purchase when I heard they were closing shop.  Overall the casts looked well done but I never got around to cleaning them, much less painting.

Degra - Purchased one to give them a try, but it is still in the moving box.

e2046 - They largely sell recasts of limited edition/out of print garage kits from the Asian market.  A kit might contain 30+ pieces, some of which are near perfect, but others are not.  The material itself primes and takes paint just fine.

Figone - JBT's line of minis, which should be purchased from someone other than him to increase the odds of a safe delivery.  They appear to be the "standard" grey resin, were well cast, prime, and paint well.  Even if you don't paint display, I highly recommend his book.

Hasselfree - I'm trying to remember if I painted any of these or not... Can't remember and they're stashed away somewhere.

Kaha - Picked up a nice set before the price hike.  The sculptor, whose name escapes me at the moment, is a friendly chap so of course you should give him money.

Kingdom Death - I'm not a huge KD collector, but i have enough to say they are some nice minis.  My main issue is the business model, not the product.

Maow - A French collective IIRC, they mostly produce small limited edition runs of their sculpts.  I'm not a fan of the business model, but the minis paint up nicely.

Michael Kontaros - Mini is in a tin, in the moving box.  I remember one flaw that needs repaired, but well packaged.

Mierce - Mine have been a bit of a mixed bag.  Once piece will be nearly flawless while the next will have a PITA imperfection.

Nocturna - Nocturna makes some sweet minis.  Buy them; paint them.

Origen - Now sold under the Black Sun line, I never got around to painting these.

Pegaso - While Pegaso is mostly known for its 54mm+ historical figures in metal, they do sell some resin.  I know it is not cast in house, but I don't know who does it for them.  I have but one of their resin.  Except for one spot that is going to be annoying to repair, the figure was well cast.  Some mold lines were rather large for resin, but are in easy enough to clean locations.

Secret Weapon - Even their crap is well made, with some easily repaired bubbles.  Primes and paints just fine.

Shadow Crafter - Another I bought one to try out the company line.  It is also still in the move box.

Studio McVey - Oh right, I bought some of these... Other people have done excellent work.  Unfortunately, we're once again talking limited edition so good luck tracking down the popular ones.

Terrible Kids Stuff - I purchased one... and it was awesome.  Really well cast and it took very little work to get it cleaned and ready for painting.  This is the mini I was working on right before the move, so it went back into the package and remains there today.  Unfortunately, their best minis are limited editions.

I know I'm still forgetting someone, but that should give knarthex a start.  ^_^

I have to be honest and admit that I've never painted any resin minis.  I have some in my shelf of shame but I'm not even close to painting them yet.

I've had the least frustrating time with Oathsworn's resin.

Oh I forgot about those. Yeah, I've painted some of oathsworn's resin terrain pieces. They paint up like a dream! Wash off easy, the primer goes on easy, and the paint sticks well. @Lovejoy and @Oathsworn Jo make awesome stuff ^_^

I've  accumulated resin from a number of different companies over the years, as one does, but most of them are still untouched.

One company that does come to mind though is Ultraforge, I've several of their minis and have even painted a couple, their dragon and one of their demons.

Casting was very good, clean up prep was easy, and they took primer and paint quite well.

I'd definately recommend them... if it wasn't for the fact that the company has changed ownership since I purchased my minis and I have no idea if the new owners have kept up the quality.

Hm I have a small bin of resin minis, but only a few painted resin minis.

Kingdom Death. Only one painted so far and another started but not yet finished. Paints fine, waaaaaayyyy to many fiddly bits and seemingly broken into more parts than any other company for some reason. Looks nice when done at least so far.

Stone Haven. I haven't had an opportunity to paint my trolls from them yet. They all have some rather thick flash under the feet, but hopefully that shouldn't be a problem.

Fenryll. I think it's a French company. I picked up a few models from them in the Gencon auction store a few years back. Only have one painted so far, it painted up well and didn't have any real issues it cleaned up fairly easily as I recall. Their models on their website seem kind of a mixed bag, some old school and some a bit more modern looking, some a bit off looking and some that look excellent. If I get around painting more of what I have, I may try and order more.

Soda Pop. I picked up a couple things from them at Gencon namely some of the pathfinder worldscape minis. Haven't opened them yet although I could see that Red Sonya's sword was bent in the package and was seemingly bent in all of them. They looked ok, I didn't see a lot of flash to clean up, but we'll see.

Impact/ Trollforged. This is most of the resin in my resin drawer/bin. I like them as a company at least as far as Impact goes. Still waiting ever so patiently for troll forged to deliver on it's own KS, but Impact seems to be able to keep the whip cracking on TF. I've only gotten one painted so far and I liked him well enough. The one I painted didn't have much clean up but others certainly do. Trollforged resin is hydrophobic like bones so you need a good primerbut baring that I actually used brown liner on it just like a bones mini. I'm told that the quality has improved since their first kickstarter, but I haven't had time to really look at the minis from the later kickstarters. I think the current one said their resin is no longer hydrophbic.

Wild West Exodus. Just bought some of their minis at Gencon. Have not had a chance to look at them since so i can't offer much opinion but they did seem to be in a lot of parts. Not "Kingdom Death" a lot of parts, but still quite a few.

Question the 13th of September: If you were arrested with no explanation, what would your friends and family assume you had done?

Serious answer: family would assume the cops got the wrong me. (I tried to find my fb account one time, without logging in, to see what it looked like to the public. Searched on my real name. Couldn't find it because of the 343 others using the same name.)

Amusing answer:

They would believe that there was some kind of mistake.

Yeah, they'd probably think it was a mistake. My life is so boring, and I always try to do the right thing, or at least the correct thing.

Hubby on the other hand...  he probably got in a fight (didn't start it though) and left the other guy a scary mess.

I think they would assume I was arrested as part of a protest against the current administration.

Corporate espionage after I found out the Caramilk Secret.

Since my immediate family are all dead, they would probably assume I was being accused of necromancy.
