Seems like, in an emergency, the Oxidation Beast (77032) might serve for a giant lobster-thing, but a dedicated dire crawdad wouldn't be unwelcome... seems like it would fit the whole Dreadmere setting, too.

There really are giant crayfish in Australia, New Zealand, Tasmania, New Guinea, etc., and now that I'm thinking of it, I could definitely get on board with some monsters inspired by that part of the world:

  • Dire Crayfish
  • Dire Crickets
  • Killeroos
  • Marsupial Lions
  • Diprotodon
  • Bunyips
  • Drop-Bears (they're like koala bears, except they have razor-sharp teeth, eat people, and they jump out of trees onto your head!)
  • Yara-ma-yha-who (a humanoid creature something like a large, red-skinned frog-man, with suckers on his fingers, and a habit of jumping out of trees onto victims and drinking their blood)
  • Dire Horseshoe Crabs
  • Lovecraft's "horrible elder race of half-polypous, utterly alien entities which had come through space from immeasurably distant universes" which had been banished into subterranean vaults in the earth beneath Australia, and sealed away by the Elder Race of Yith
  • Lovecraft's Great Race of Yith ("immense rugose cones ten feet high, and with head and other organs attached to foot-thick, distensible limbs spreading from the apexes...")

Nice list!  I saw the new Australian wildlife news item Reaper just sent out for fire relief (thanks a heap Reaper - great gesture), and thought I'd drop in here to make a similar suggestion - it's been a while since I've visited here.

Wouldn't take much to turn the nice koala in a tree sculpt to a fearsome Dropbear (which of course would be my favourite).    I've been known to mention this one once or twice during the earlier Bones KS campaigns ;)

Other ideas:

  • Hoop Snake (it's a snake that grabs it's tail to form a ring, and rolls down a hill to attack!)
  • Taniwha (a water demon thingy from New Zealand that steals Maori princesses)
  • Giant/Dire Tasmanian Devil
  • Giant/Dire Tasmanian Tiger
  • Giant/Dire Dingo
  • Yowie (sort of like an Outback Australian Yeti or Bigfoot)

You know what Bones does not have, or, for that matter the entire Reaper catalog is missing?  A two-headed dragon.  That seems like an oversight.  There are hydras, and and awesome five headed dragon tyrant, but, a two headed dragon is nowhere to be seen.  I think a two headed dragon would be cool.  I know evil dragons come in colors / flavors, and I suppose any color of dragon could be two headed, but, if'n I had my druthers, I would want the two headed dragon to be modeled after Narthrax, SKU: 77279, ostensibly the blue dragon of the lot, because lighting sometimes forks, and blue dragons breath lightning, and well, that makes a certain amount of plot sense to me.  But really any old head style would be great, preferably in Bones, and somewhere in the adult dragon size range.

One of the things that always bothered me about Michael Jackson was that he bought another mans bones. Especially after having watched the movie the Elephant man in which he professed "I am not a monster, I am a human being". In honor of Joseph Carey Merrick, I propose a skeletal Mamluk in bonesium....so that we can all buy the bones of an elephant man.

Gonna re-post my request for the Reaper Warlord Guardian Beast (SKU: 14234). It's a gorgeous miniature, but I just have not been able to justify the cost of it in pewter.

We also could really benefit from casualty miniatues. Dead figures across a host of races and classes would be nice, both for dioramas and wargames.
