The Seers and a Wizard Present a Random Rainbow Dragon Challenge!

I spy four potential ones, but all but one would be kinda combo breakers. Gauth will likely fit, unless he's too big and goes in the Bank Breaker category (which I am arbitrarily setting at $40+). The Dragon Turtle is a dragon, but is also a turtle. He'd be kinda weird. The zombie dragon is a dragon, but also a zombie. He'd be really weird (can you imagine a blush pink and moth green zombie dragon?!). Blacksting could do well, but he's a wyvern. He doesn't have the proper four legs. He also has scenery, which would boost cost. The other dragons in B4 are almost certainly Bank Breakers.

I think it would make the challenge more interesting to have the dragon turtle and zombie dragon included.  Probably a lot of people will be getting them in their KS package anyway.

BTW, blush pink and moth green mixed together make a really good zombie skin color. :)

I certainly wouldn't stop anyone from using those if they wanted. But the dragon should still be chosen before the paint rolls!

Heck if folks want to use their bank breakers for this, they can. I am not advocating that however!

Hey all!

So @Echoside_ showed me this. Sounds fun! Cleaned up the paint room and table a bit. Took pics. We shall see how this goes!

And for star rating... I think I will do a 3 star because why not? Let's go crazy!

Ebonwrath is my victim.

Colors are marine teal, true blue and lava orange.

Going to use a liner to base him (thinking red because why not, should give an interesting hue... )

Hopefully get some wips posted tomorrow. For tonight though,  it's my dragons bath time!

Great rolls on the colors. Should be able to make some interesting blends for shading.  Love the analog timepiece. :)

As promised in previous posts, I, Echoside, will be undergoing this awesome challenge as my Dragon and paints have arrived from Denton.

I have chosen the victim of Kyphrixis, The Copper Dragon for this 3-star challenge.  Will be using green and red liner to prime.

My rolls:

So after his bath, it was picture time!

I think he will end up being a Strawberry Dragon!  WiP Thread will be up tomorrow after some work on him.  Cheers!

Another great color scheme. Green is a very good color with which to shade red. :;):

@Inarah notice he stole my analog time piece. Lol

Both dragons have been bathed and are enjoying naptime before a busy day of priming tomorrow at a painting event we are attending.

Ie we don't have to take a lot of paint with us by doing so. :D

All the information you need should be here.

As usual, the new format holds a "hard mode" challenge!

      July and August 2019 Challenge

      Your challenge is: 9!

      Bonus Challenge: The First!
Independence Day! Both Canada and the US celebrate their independence days in July. Keeping it clean - paint a mini that resembles the most absurd stereotype of the country, whether it's a lumberjack riding a moose with a jug of maple syrup, or a fat dude in a scooter with the american flag and a big mac.  Or something from the film Independence Day, that works too.

      Bonus Challenge: The Second!
August 22nd is National Spumoni day. 3-layered Gelato dish. Paint any mini in a themed pallet around your choice image of said dish.

      Hard Mode Challenge! Eruption
Also in August is the fabled eruption of Pompeii. A full-size diorama is a but much to ask - but instead theme a mini around trying to escape the eruption (lava flows, flying chunks of rock, etc) particularly utilizing the OSL and an ashen look.

As always, the game is made up and the points don't matter!

Yay, finished in time to enter 2013 Dragon challenge with 6 hours to spare....

He is 2 lbs 2.5 ounces of lead, so pretty straining on the wrists. The WIP is here : https://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/52564-teronus-grenadier-dragon-wip/
I will likely put him on a display base later.

      Everyone, meet Viridius.

He's a hefty boi.  No Ma'al or Kalladrax, but still pretty big. He doesn't even fit in my light box, as you can see.
I've thought a long time about how I was going to paint him up, I don't think I'm going to go with the standard green dragon look.  Instead I'm going to take my inspiration from the time of year, and make him an autumn forest dragon, whose coloration changes with the forest around him.   So I'll be doing him in mostly golden yellows to oranges and reds, but keeping some greenish tones as the base of scales and other places, to kind of give a reminder of the verdent glory he was before.

One thing I'm choosing to see as an opportunity is that the tops of his wings are very smooth, ideal for some freehand work.  The question is, what to do?  Some kind of leaf like pattern, or perhaps a butterfly like eye pattern (in the leaf colors, of course)

Out of the box bag he was in pretty good shape.  The usual mold line cleanup, though he has some gaps that will need to be filled.  I followed up with reshaping the wings a little with some boiling water.  I forgot to get a complete before picture, but below you can see the before and after for the right wing

I've had to fully assemble him, I don't like the way the wing joins look without greenstuff, so that's going to be the first order of business.  So painting around the wings might be a chore, but it's nothing I haven't dealt with before (Although, not in recent history)

I begain the gapfill on the right side, but after sticking a finger in greenstuff twice and having to flip him back to touch up the texture, I decided to call it a night and do the left side gaps later.

So I had this idea that Viridius was a forest dragon, and that his scales would color with the leaves of his trees.  I started on him about 6 months ago and finally finished him this weekend.  Big pictures so i'll spoiler most of them but I'm very happy with how he came out.  Going to be doing some additional work on my basing game in the future.
Pictures are the best I can do at this time, he's way too big for my photo box, so I did my best to set up some canvases around to reflect light around as much as I could.

I'm painting again after a looong absence.

The colour scheme was inspired by Australian Frilled-neck Lizards and Thorny Devils. Base was extended with an MDF circle, cork, stones, and green stuff. I used my airbrush to prime it all and lay down the base colours, then lots of hand-painting, washing and drybrushing.
