Edsterdoom accepts the d20 Rainbow Dragon challenge

Well after following this phenomenon for a while I have decided to paint a dragon. 

 

I rolled the following. 

 

so the only issue I have is what colour to use instead of blush pink. 

 

I have the the following four colours to choose from. 

 

from left to right:

Warlock Purple

Punk Rock Pink

Pink Horror

Tentacle Pink

 

i think Punk Rock is the closest.

Not the best will have to take advantage of the black as well. 

 

So Punk Rock Pink it is then.   

And I plan to do the 3 star challenge. 

 

I also plan to use Kyphrixis.

Unless you are going for the bonus challenges, you can shade with whatever colors you want. Just has to visually read as "a white dragon" and have your 2nd and 3rd colors as 2nd and 3rd most prevalent. You could do the white shading with the khaki, you could shade the white with gray, heck, even pink. Or pale blues. Up to you!

My first thoughts are a combination of white and khaki for a the body and to of the wings with the underside pink. 

 

May try wet blending on it as well.

Well I started on the base and as this isn't part of the dragon I painted it with a range of greys and a few inks thrown in for good measure. 

 

 

I am now ready to paint the dragon. And this has been primed in grey.

Some progress on the dragon over the last few days. 

 

I decided to to give the complete dragon a coat of Terran khaki. 

 

 

Once this was dry a use use a thin black wash made up Abaddon Black and lahmian medium. 

 

 

As always comments welcome.

More progress on the dragon this afternoon. A dry brush of Terran Khaki was put on the model followed by a number of lighter highlights. 

 

 

I think it is close enough to be considered a white dragon. I will put one more coat of white on the model and I'll look at what I think of the body. 

 

What do others think it is white enough?

You might want to brighten it a bit more so that it clearly contrasts with your khaki. Since khaki is a light brown, close to beige, it is going to need some distinct differences to not just seem like dirty white.

Nothing wrong with dirty white, but I plan to add some more white to it.

A thin white glaze was used to blend some of the dry brushing followed by another dry brush of white. 

 

I think k am now content with the main elements of the scales. I now need to do the claws and introduce the other colours.

I am pressing on with the rainbow dragon at the moment. 

 

First up was to add some colour and so the chest got a thin glaze of Punk Rock Pink. Other details were also picked out. 

 

next up I used the limited pallete to get the eyes done. This is a good challenge having to mix up your own shades etc. 

 

 

the wings were tidied up ready for a black wash and then some highlighting.
