fulfilling Starfinder Masterclass Miniatures

Rail Raiders, I have my copy, but I'm missing dice, sleeves, and retail box (but I suppose that want actually promised).

 

Super dungeon... (╯°□°）╯︵ ┻━┻ way too long with nothing to show their backers.  

 

Way of the fighter, ordered chibi minis. No clue where they are with that. 

 

No way I'm backing until I receive Super Dungeon.

@ub3r_n3rd - ordered some of their Pathfinder Worldscape minis. I don't remember how long ago, but a while ago. He reports he just received 3 out of the 4 he ordered. 

 

On the good side he states they are highest detailed, and not brittle. So at least that concern is addressed. 

 

I would be bery interested in this KS, but I don't think I need to walk in @Beagle's shoes.

I just put this one on remind because I quite like the look of the minis, but I didn't realize their reputation had gone down the toilet since I backed their Forgotten King Kickstarter.

 

I'll be waiting for retail now.

Ninja Division and Soda Pop Miniatures should probably be considered the same (legally distinct but mostly if not entirely the same people).

 

There has never been a problem of non-delivery with them, but many of their projects deliver late or very late.  It's probably best to consider the delivery date as an "earliest possible" date rather than "latest possible."

 

Assuming they're still contracting with the same people, their resin is pretty durable, even for thinner arms and legs.  It shouldn't take any damage from getting knocked over, while drops of 6"+ would probably break off weapons, antenna, etc, but not body parts.

I'm actually looking at getting a refund on SDE:L. Right now I'm waiting on the staffer who is supposed to come on some time today to answer our questions about it before I fully decide. Suffice to say that they had better do something better than blow smoke up my broccoli or I'm out, regardless of how much I want the game.

I'm thinking an important factor for my support of this KS is will I have my preorder minis before the KS is done.

 

I'm willing to bet "no" on that.

 

Which makes me sad, because the exclusive legacy hero minis are the ones I like the most.

Miniatures look good, I'm interested in Starfinder. I also think it's worth the money ... but not with that track record. The more freebies they unlock, the harder it will be to resist, but while I might take a gamble with $20, I usually try not to do that with $100+.

It will keep delivering on it's KS'ers until it doesn't. Money runs out at some point. And right now, I get too much sense of a shell game. We money is being robbed from Paul's project to pay for Peter's project... so to speak. 

 

I hope I am wrong on this. I would hate to see a company go down like Center Stage did.

I was interested, but I really don't want resin gaming miniatures.  Eye opening to see some of the rest of the State of the Kickstarter though for them.  Wish there would have been a way to get these into Reaper's hands (though, I can imagine designing sculpts for Paizo could be an exacting task).  Mostly I regret that there won't be some in metal because they would be fun to paint and some in bones so they could be thrown out on the table.

Grayfax ... I'm not sure their "resin" is what you (and I) understand when we hear "resin". Archon/Prodos is calling the material of their miniatures "resin" in their newest Kickstarter - but it is not the type of material that breaks easily and it is not hand-poured etc.

 

I found the following post on Facebook by Erik Mona (name does not ring a bell, seems to work for Paizo ... never did a lot of research on the people working for that company, just bought their stuff, so I don't know):

 

"We are very aware of those concerns [i.e. the last Ninja/Soda Pop Kickstarters], and have been working closely with Ninja Division and we're confident that they are the correct partner for this project. They've been very timely and helpful with everything so far, and the minis they've produced for us so far have been exemplary. Their communication regarding past products has not been exemplary, which is something they are working hard to improve, with our encouragement."

Some of my sage old dating advice is: Watch how he (or she) treats the waiter/support staff/people without something they want, because that is a measure of their base personality. Because at some point, you will be treated just like the waiter.

Update, Ninja Justin was on the KS comments page and while not as great as one would hope, it still goes a good ways towards building back some of the trust that was lost in the company. While I wouldn't say things were perfect now I'd still say give it a bit of time and see how things go from here and take my complaints with a grain of salt. At least for right now I won't be asking for that refund.

Maybe it is less brittle.  Does that also mean it is safer to work than resin of old?  You don't need to wear a mask, etc.?  Or maybe there aren't mold lines or anything that I would need to smooth out so there wouldn't been fine particles of the resin to cause trouble?

Just for info, Eric Mona's title is publisher. He is pretty high up the tree at Paizo, just under the two owners, Lisa Stevens and Vic Wertz.

He was pretty high up staff when Paizo was publishing Dragon and Dungeon Magazines, and helped write the 3e Greyhawk book. Fun guy to chat with back in the day as well.

 

Don't know about Starfinder, but he was one of the main people behind Pathfinder.
