Nunae
Hey there, I do own 9 Bones Gnolls, 8 of them are actually painted. Later on in my campaign there will be more Gnolls, and I'm eyeing the Frostgrave ones for both price and variety. If anyone here has both, Bones Gnolls and the ones from the Frostgrave blister, it would be greatly appreciated if they could post a picture/tell me if they are compatible in the same warband. Frostgrave ones seem to be a bit more slender, so they would probably be the grunts of the group, with the Bones ones taking more of a leadership role. haldir
There is always the Nolzur's (Wizkids) ones too. Seen these painted up along side some Reaper Gnolls & they look great together.
Maledrakh
I dont have the frostgrave ones, but they are usually based on 25mm bases (normal human size), while the bones ones are more comfortably based on 40mm,( more like ogre size). I believe the bones ones are significantly larger. And more good looking. (I dont think the frotsgrave gnolls really look like gnolls, more like bad beastmen of some sort.) but that's my opinion. DocPiske
I was in the FLGS today and took a look at the Frostgrave gnolls. As Maledrakh says, they are tiny compared to the Reaper Bones gnolls. The troopers are barely an inch/25mm tall, with the sergeant being maybe 30mm. They would look like gnoll children next to the Reaper Bones gnolls.
Nunae
Thank you for your feedback. I didn't base my Reaper Gnolls, since they are too large fo the 25 mm ones they should have according to DnD sizes. I like them a lot, but the variety in the Frostgrave ones tempted me. Wizkids is surprisingly hard to get domestically. My standard online retailer for fantasy miniatures seems always out of stock, I'm not sure if they even restocked since the initial release. Also, is it just the render image, or are WIzkids Gnolls furless?

Ozymandiasm
The wiz kids gnolls have quite a variety of sizes too for some reason, but it works well for my system. I just wish they would do some FLINDS Edited February 6, 2019 by Ozymandiasm
paintybeard
Nothing to offer by way of comparison, but here are the Frostgrave gnolls made up; They are pretty much an exact match with the other Frostgrave human figures. I have done arm and weapon swaps with their Barbarians that fit very well indeed.

They're definitely smaller than either Reaper or D&D gnolls.

Bones/metal Reaper Also trimming down the base & gluing them diagonal on a square base (I use Litko woods) eliminates the need for a larger base. Tre likes to scuplt his figures with wider stances.
Ozymandiasm
Wow you made those look great! I’ve been looking for an artist to help me paint my minis. Any chance you’re in the Atlanta area lol. Yes the frost graves minis are all a little bit stunted, but their crewman box set is still perfect if you need a bunch of sailors and pirates I recommend it. Their Legs are disproportionately short just like all of the frost grave minis I think. The monk mini is actually short for a wiz kid figure Edited February 7, 2019 by Ozymandiasm

The reason being that they're normally considered to be around human sized but the Reaper Bones gnolls are humungous.
ManvsMini
I rather like the Reaper gnolls size. To me they should be big, but that's possibly because I always envision how they appear in the original Baldur's Gate game, which was my first visual encounter with all things D&D (apart from Elmore artwork). The gnoll sprites in that game were big, bigger than human-sized.
Zink
The first Monster Manual I had said they were 7-8' tall IIRC. I like the Reaper ones and even bought some extras but they are BIG. Gotta paint them someday. Had thoughts of making some sort of a warband using them as ogre equivalents with the Frostgrave ones as human equivalents. One of dozens if not hundreds of ideas I've got rattling around.
