Tabletop Battlefields Mk.II

About this project

Wondering what this campaign is about? It's about Micro Art Studio's great Tabletop Battlefields!

Some players lack time to create a nice-looking gaming board. Unfortunately sometimes it ends up with playing on random, clumsy terrain - this is where we step in to change it!

We created unique sets by mixing a bit of our current products with some new, superb releases! We give you battlefields of the highest quality, where you will fight the most epic battles!

Game-ready tabletop board scenery sets are a totally new idea - containing thematical terrain and a playmat available at a decent price!

The scenery is made of special polyurethane foam which is well known for its durability. It is easy to glue with cyanoacrylate adhesive and can be primed & painted with almost any coating.

Products we create are up to date with current rules of different wargames, therefore playing on them feels natural and easy-going. We are wargamers ourselves, so don't hesitate and put your trust in us!

Shipping rates

Keep in mind that pledge values do not include shipping costs. They will have to be added in the pledge manager after the campaign is finished.

Your shipping will never be more expenive than $60 USD ($30 USD for EU), no matter what you choose or what your location is. All packages will be tracked and we take full responsibility for their delivery.

I think $80 seems to be a little out there for a printed mat; I may pick and choose a few add-ons.

$80 for a printed neoprene mat is pretty in-line with most manufacturers.  A bit cheaper, actually, probably reflecting Kickstarter pricing.

The size of the mat was surprising to me: 48 x 72 inches. I never played Warhammer, more used to 48x48 from Warmachine. Way too big for any use I'd have, on top of the sticker shock, but clearly I'm not the target audience either. Just feel like a modular cardstock or foamcore mounted board of 6x6 sections would give better longterm use and be a lot more cost effective.

I have a 3'x3' mat and a 4'x4' mat from different manufacturers.  The neoprene mats offer a lot of benefits, but they do have some of the downsides you mention.  The major benefit is a soft surface that is excellent for rolling dice and softening the blow when models inevitably tip over.  It's also easier to pick up cards than from a simple flat surface.  Other benefits include durability, professional finish and transportability.  Downsides are that you only have 2 or 4 possible configurations (though most mats don't contain any actual terrain features), and that storage is "long and skinny" instead of "boxy."  And price, but it's a bit unfair to compare price vs DIY tables.

      Story
Texts from here will be a mix between Italian and English language, they will be translated from the next week until the KS launch. The texts are subject to change, only the final page will be considered correct.
Let yourself be captivated by the magical atmosphere of Nova Aetas!
Set in the Italian Renaissance, this game will guide you through a fantastic, mythical campaign based upon the historic events of the war between Rome and Venice in the early 1500s.
Nova Aetas: Renaissance is a reimplementation of the original game founded on KS in January 2016.  This new, improved version, is born from the experience gained during these years and will give you an even deeper experience by immersing  you and your group in a charming and mysterious Italy, full of historical characters such as Leonardo da Vinci, Caterina Sforza, and many others – both real and imaginary.
Soon we will show all the remaining models and components.

Those who know me well generally know what a massive Darkest Dungeon fan I am so I've been very good to not post about this one yet. I've been holding off 'til nearer release date to avoid putting a thread up too early. There is going to be a kickstarter for a Darkest Dungeon boardgame. This makes me happy. It will have miniatures! This makes my heart sing with Joy. It's going to be by Mythic Games. This makes me somewhat concerned. I've heard horror stories about their rulebooks needing updates and finally becoming playable  a year or two after release (or even in a second crowdfunding campaign if it's their Joan of Arc game).

That being said it will have gorgeous miniatures that, while similar to many of the unofficial Darkest Dungeon miniatures, knock then pants off many of them. I'll probably be backing this for the figures alone but I appreciate any concerns that people might have.

They claim they're looking to launch some time in late October or early November.

There are a few more pictures and a handful of videos doing the rounds at the moment including two or three gameplay sessions. Here's what I was able to piece together from them.

It’s a campaign game. You don’t play as the Heir. You play as the Heroes. You randomly generate dungeons then head inside making important choices about your resources (food, torches, spades etc). When you meet monsters you lay out a mini dungeon board and fight it out.
Heroes and enemies occupy four positions. Attacker, Defender, Ranged and Support. The skills you can use are based on the position you’re in. The battles have a four round limit so they don’t drag on too long. Take too long and you have to retreat back into the corridor. Corridor encounters happen. There is a scouting system.
Every 3 dungeons you have to tackle a boss dungeon. You randomly generate the boss beforehand and he has in town effects and other effects so you really want to get rid of him when the time comes. Boss battles are all or nothing. If you fail a boss battle you don’t retreat. You just loose the entire party.
After 3 bosses you go into the Darkest Dungeon itself to end the game. So that’s 9 dungeon runs (or 12 depending on if the boss dungeon counts as part of the once every 3 dungeons frequency) then the end game run to complete the entire campaign.
They currently only plan to have 8 core heroes in the game (you can bet the other 7 or 9 will be stretch goals). When you loose a hero there are two replacement heroes in the stagecoach. Take a new hero. The stagecoach does not appear to generate new heroes beyond these two replacement heroes. If one player’s hero dies and they are unable to obtain a replacement from the stagecoach then you all lose. Game over man. Game over.
They intend to launch around late October or early November.
Mythic kickstarter campaign lengths are as follows.
Time of Legends: Joan of Arc 32 days
      Solomon Kane: 24 days
      Reichbusters 10 days
      Super Fantasy Brawl 8 days
Time of Legends: Joan of Arc 1.5 15 days
      Enchanters: East Quest 11 days
      Steamwatchers 11 days
Hel – the Last Saga 14 days
So we’re probably looking at 8-15 days which is quite a short period to scrounge up cash in.
