I've gone back and forth about starting this thread since I started painting these last April. Shaerileth and the female spider-centaur are topless, so I need to link pictures owing to nudity.
But heck, I guess talking about how I'm painting them can help people so I'm giving it a go anyway.
The male spider-centaurs, faces, and backs will be shown. Any front female torsos will be linked to, as per Reaper's forum policy.
So anyhow, these are Bones plastic, so fairly lightweight. I primed them all with Reaper's "Brown Liner", the acrylic paint that sticks to Bones no matter what, thinned down somewhat.

I'm going to try to paint this guy over the next week:
It's going to be interesting, because I'll be painting something mostly blueish-white for the first time. It might be a challenge to keep pale colors without losing contrast or completely blowing out the highlights.
To start with, I primed it with a thin coat of FolkArt Multi-Surface Ocean Blue, followed by a base coat of MSP Blue Flame, with a little MSP Dragon Blue added to enhance the color. Then...
Well, I know I want it to be white and ice blue, with hint of blues and purples mixed in. After that, I dunno. Maybe metallic colors?
Time to steal, er, research color schemes!

...or, as pretty much everybody else in the RPG world knows it, a Remorhaz.
From memory, I think remorhaz are supposed to be more of a light ice-blue, but I got a bit carried away, so this one has more of a tropical look about it than an arctic one. Never mind.
This was a real quickie paint job, taking about an hour and a half from start to finish. There's a lot more detail I could concentrate on, and maybe I'll revisit it one day, but for now it's good enough for gaming, and that's good enough for me.

So.
I tried painting some minis without WIPs and found myself having a hard time keeping track of what and how much I had done. So I'm back, although these may be sporadic and really slow to update. We'll see.
Anyhow, after painting a lot of tiny figures for the January Bones Beauty Pageant, I decided to move in the opposite direction and tackle some of the big figures from Bones I to clear out room for Bones II.
So I am painting dragons. Five of them, if you count the Frost Wyrm. Each one gets its own thread, though, since I don't know how I'm going to progress through them.
The Frost Wyrm is pretty cool and I've been looking forward to painting it. I see it as camouflaged in the rocky ice fields of the deep north, so I'm going to try that sort of a color scheme, whites and greys and blues and violets.
For the time being I have painted it up, first with a base coat of Reaper's Brown Liner, then some white and a little blue mixed from Phthalo Blue and Titanium White. This is to help spot the pieces as well, since I have left some of it unglued for ease of painting.
The other dragons I'm painting concurrently are Deathsleet, Ebonwrath, the Fire Dragon, and the Shadow Dragon.

This was one of my Secret Sophie gifts. I've decided to paint him up like a magma sub-species.
They dwell within lava and volcanoes, and freely burrow and swim through the magma without harm to themselves
he's far from finished, going to add some more black along the spine for sure
