Castle from Renaissance Miniatures KS

Recommended Posts

That is a BEAUTYAND it has the potential to become even more so. OUTSTANDING WORK!

There never seems to be enough storage. I think I would run out of room even if I lived in an aircraft hangar.

Renaissance Miniatures makes really nice modular lasercut buildings.

That looks really nice... I only got a ballista in this kickstarter. Everything was really nice, but I didn't think I would use a lot of big scenery and could not justify the expense. Looking at your castle though, I wish I had. But I have heard that big castles make great Thanksgiving centerpieces... ::D:

Thanks Malefactus. These kits would make great foundations for building some awesome terrain, but at this point I have no desire to trick it out. They are nice enough as is to act as an opponent castle to the Dwarven Forge stuff in my kids daily play and if I ever game it would look pretty nice on the board.

I have a tool shed, garage, spare bed room, and utility room to hide my stuff and it still isn't enough room.

That is a great idea and might convince my wife that I bought it for us if it shows up on the dinner table...::D: I found the fit on the castle stuff to be much better than the Spanish Mission from the Earlier Pirate KS I put together.  I still have a siege tower to put together from this KS...then hopefully I won't be too burnt out to start on the ships from the Pirate KS. Thanks for the feed back.

Yeah, it is a shame that they are scaling back their operation/business as they have a few unique things I haven't seen other places.

....now where do I store all this terrain I am making::(:

Well, in your kid's room, obviously... ::D:

"No, son, it's Daddy's turn to play with the castle now... You can play with it later after all his little friends leave."

LOL. That strategy is already in progress. And we have had that discussion before I believe. ::):

That's really cool!

I just went by their site, and am depressed that I'll probably never be able to get any of their really cool big pieces any more.

I've wanted to back pretty much every project of theirs but their Medieval Village is the only one I was able to.

This is the Guard House / Toll Booth from Kiernan Billings’ Wizards Tower Expansion Set. IIRC this was printed at a 150 micron layer height using my Anycubic i3 Mega printer. I tried smoothing out the print ridges using Polycrylic before priming. It didn’t seem to make a difference on the print lines.

This is a two piece print (building and roof) with a simple paintjob of dry brushing, washes, and matte coating. I think it turned out great for the game table. If I wanted something for display, I think I could get the quality necessary on my UV resin printer at higher resolution .  The photo doesn’t show the bluish purple of the roof very well, but this is generally a good representation of the work. I have not decided if I will permanently attach the roof or not.

Now I need to paint the couple dozen pieces I have printed of the Wizards Tower and Bridges.

      C&C welcome.

Hello all! Here are a few pics of my second official terrain project. It's a castle/boss chamber, I suppose. I didn't really have anything in mind when I started building it; I was just fooling around with my new molds, tinkering with dry stacking. This eventually emerged.

I built it using Hirst Arts molds and bits from both Reaper and Mini Monsters. The Reaper parts are Large Sarcophagus (77540) and parts from Magic Treasures II and III. I made the flags from salad container plastic and various bits; one of these days I would like to go back and paint more detailed flags and replace these. I see so much amazing freehand banner work and I have artist envy...!

      Happy painting,

      Laura

The Dragon Hatchling sculpts are cute, but the Bones casts are terrible. Due to this I didn't try to clean them up well and just put them on new bases. Either way it is two more models off the bench and painted to an acceptable toy box level...and so what if I painted the geen one red and the black one green!

btw I touched up the splotchy black base rims after I took this picture.

      Comments encouraged,

This guy was always intended to be toy box level painted. Basecoat, dry/damp brushing, and a light wash of Army painter mid-tone. But I actually really like the way he turned out.
