Welp. Whadda ya know.

There’s delays and the kickstarter comments section is getting toxic.

One feller in particular seems to be taking enjoyment in belittling people who disagree with him while he portrays himself as the only one who understands all the issues and that kickstarter is now only used by large companies who purposely delay and extend production times for their own means.

What a whackadoodle.

Finally.

Todays update featured an unboxing video of a production box of the Dragon.

Though technically I think it’s more of a wyvern.

Still, it’s a great sculpt and I feel silly for being so happy about it’s size.

Screen caps from the video are below:

Update on shipping:

As you’ve hopefully seen, we’ve asked you all to check that your addresses are correct on the pledge manager and that you have a telephone number entered as well. The deadline we gave for that is today so please make sure you check it today if you haven’t already done so.

Two very important things to note. The first is that it is specifically the address on your Time of Legends: Joan of Arc pledge that you will need to check and not the address attached to your general Game On Tabletop account. To find it, click on Your Order on the Time of Legends: Joan of Arc pledge manager, then when you’re on your order screen which will show as being step 4 of 4, click onto step 3 to take you to the shipping address screen.

The second is that you must enter your address using the Roman alphabet and no special characters. This includes no accents, umlauts, or similar. Essentially, however your address would be written in English is the format it needs to be written in.

We need you to do this as we’re very close to the point where we will be uploading all the pledges to our logistics company in advance of the product arriving from the factory. We’ve been told this will begin on 18th March, give or take a day or so. Due to the sheer amount of product involved this will be staggered over approximately three weeks. Product will arrive on a daily basis, get packed into individual pledges, then shipped out to make space for the next arrival. Once all the pledges for a region we’re importing into (this is anywhere with ‘friendly’ shipping) are done then they can leave on the boat. Rest of the World pledges will be sent individually.

We’ll be doing all the EU based pledges first. This is because the time spent on the boat is longer than for other regions and we don’t want EU backers to receive their pledges weeks after other regions. Once these are done then it will account for almost 60% of all the wave one product. USA, Canada, Australia, and Rest of the World will then be done in a yet to be determined order.

Kickstarter exclusives, super exclusives, and now only available in the retail core set exclusive! I think I'll be ending up with plenty of stuff without buying another copy of the base game to get the new exclusives, but they definitely just kicked a bit of a hornets nest.

They've just announced that they're going to retail with a massively cut down version...…. but this means new scenarios and tiles (as they can't use the ones developed for the much large KS version as they depend on stuff the retail version won't include)

so Kickstarter rage is beginning to bubble up as some of those who though they were getting everything realise there will be stuff they won't have releasing later in the year

Mythic seems not to have anticipated this (and even worse said the retailers had asked for some 'exclusive' content)  oops

If the game is going to stay around for any longer than the kickstarter fulfilment launch then it needs a retail presence afterwards.

I don’t know who these people that are complaining think they’ll be playing their game with in a year if there isn’t one.

With a board game that's not all that relevant. You don't need anyone else to own Catan to play the game once you have it. It's not like a typical miniatures games where all the players buy their army, this is a one person buys the box  and everyone uses it kind of thing.

As far as the actual complaints, there are a couple good points. The main one being the concerns about compatibility. This was already an issue in one direction where retail buyers would be limited in which scenarios they'd have enough pieces to play. Now they've also created it in the other direction due to all the retail scenarios being written to use pieces unavailable outside of the retail base game. With one of their selling points being continued support with downloadable scenarios they've suddenly gone from all the new scenarios working with the kickstarter version and all the smaller scenario working for the retail version to each version requiring an entirely separate set of scenarios. Another is if they continue the addition and use the new content across the retail expansions kickstarter backers who didn't go all in may find themselves require to buy the retail version of the base game in order to use the retail versions of expansions. If they were to release the new game tiles to buy outside of buying the full game these thing wouldn't be a concern at all, but the update itself suggests the whole purpose is to encourage kickstarter backers to repurchase a retail copy of the game.
