Didn't you know?  His name is really Deem O'Gorgon....

Anyway, this is an ambitious piece and I look forward to seeing what you do with it.

(I painted the "Demonic Lasher" in the Reaper studio collection, years ago.)

Derek

Lol!

(no pressure now...)

@buglips*the*goblin reminded me, so I have that bookmarked so I can look at your highlights and shadows...

He's painting the Lasher right now...

A fine Irish name, must be from Kerry.  Or Boston.  As George mentioned I directed him to your paint job, because a dks paint job is always a good place to start.  I'm a low-key fanboy of yours... except for this post.   As for your demon, Georgeous, you might try adding a bit more of the greeny fleshtone to the scaly bits to make them a touch less stark.  That might help them look more natural and a bit less like he's wearing leather.  Skin looks real good!

Scutes were don following sensei @buglips*the*goblin advice with SC 75 Iroku, mixed 12 to 1 with SC 75 Field grey

These are the 2 bases I am considering using, both from Secret Weapon:

I am drawn more to the second, with the corpses, but not sure how his feet would fit....

In either case, as the very last step, I would mix some red ink / paint with water effects and fill them to the level of the lip, covering part of his feet, and bring it up to his ankles as if he were wadding through blood....

Thought s on any and all???

Irony-free, "no pressure". This guy is your own.

I agree with Buglips about bringing green into the yellow to make it less stark.  Good work.  I like how it is coming along.

You might also bring some yellow into other parts of the figure, especially the upper half -- teeth, shoulder spikes, mottling or highlights on the tentacles and/or mane, etc.

And if you use blue-purple on the mandrill faces, that can tie with the blue-purple on the loincloth (before you add the tartan, of course).

@dks

LOL!

I know!

Not trying to put you on the spot!

Just that having my ReaperCon open judge following along makes me REALLY want to push myself to do a good job!

(I am trying to push myself with each non mook piece I do, so all good!)

and please continue to critique!

It's how I get better!

sometimes people around here are too nice....

I like the 2nd base more too... tho it doesn't have skullz, I have to say for this piece the 2nd base is better. *sighs*

ETA: as far as fitting the feet go, build a bit of a mound of shapes that look roughly like more bodies, maybe add some more bones bits of skeletons or zombies and mush them into the putty to really sell the effect.
