Just realized that when I signed up for this, I gave my office address, so I probably won't get my hands on mine until I get back from the holidays. If you ended up with me, don't get worried if I don't post about it until then, and hey, now I have something to look forward to when I go back to work! :)

Unless @jsalyers can contact the sender in time. Might not be headed your way yet. Might send him a PM as well.

Work Complete! It is in the post!  The line work is pretty rough.  My tremors have  been at an all time bad the last few months, I'm sorry in advance.   You may want to touch them up a bit. But I'm happy with the gradients & blending, which was more challenging on a mech than a regular figure.   The hat was sculpted by my wife, (Christine Van Patten)  Overall, I'm quite happy with it.

I had a package waiting on me yesterday when I got home.  MasterGunz's work is even better in person than I would have thought from the photos.  Thanks all for the fun, and thanks MasterGunz for the new showpiece of my collection.

Tracking on mine shows a Fri. delivery.

Here is the latest addition to the 333rd Adon armored reserves. This militia unit is equipped with a just enough castoff and captured equipment to maintain their status as a 'fighting unit'.

Intercepted Terran intelligence describes the unit as 'uncommonly good' and 'the Keeblers' despite the 333rds lack of actual combat experience.

Thanks to Jeneki for the most excellent tanks!

A box arrived on my doorstep! How mysterious!

Thanks to my Totally-No-Longer-Secret-Santa Savage Coyote, and to jsalyers for organising this! Looking forward to seeing everyone else's as they come in!

Sweet!  Glad it arrived in time!  It's always hit or miss shipping over the Pacific! :D

@Savage Coyote

I really love the weathering on your model. There are plenty of places on the internet to see how to weather larger scale models but few that show how to do it on smaller models. Perhaps we could encourage you to write a little something up about how to do it...?

I updated the status of the first post to show whose models have shipped / been received.

Please post when you've received your model even if you choose not to open it until Christmas. It helps us track who has received their gift and who we might need to supply a replacement painter for.

Please include a photo or two and some idea of how you plan to use the model. The SS exchange is really about camaraderie and fellowship both of which require communication.

Against all odds, the mail truck came today with a package for me! I open it and lo and behold inside is a Starhawk! Thanks @hjorhrafn! It's a significant departure from the color schemes I usually do, so I look forward to using it as a study to incorporate more greens and tans into my future work.

Merry Christmas all!

Brief word of introduction. I know next to nil about CAV. My current interest in it is solely from a painting perspective. With that in mind, please excuse any blunders I make.
So, I'm a painter looking for some cool stuff to paint. I see CAV's mechs. I think "I like mechs, those look cool, I think I'll grab some". Then my eyes flicker upwards towards where it says "10mm scale". I think you can see where this is going.
Long story short, how big are these? It looks like they come on 1" hexes, and $4.99-$6.99 is quite a lot to charge for a small mini (in my opinion, of course).
      Many thanks, all!

I had painted a flail as a test model, and then decided to do a group since it was an easy color scheme.
had too many tags, but it's a pillager, wolverine, flail, outlaw, and poltergeist

So I finally fell into the temptation and got my first ground based sci fi minis!(I do have spaceships.)
A Cataphract, conquerer , and a halberd by Reaper minis came in with my horsman today! Sadly the halberd is missing a piece so it may in end up being returned.
So my first order of business was a small conversion to the cataphract
      Before conversion

And the conquerer has donated the necessary parts for said conversion, specifically his smaller missile pods.

A bit of work with an exacto knife removed said weapons.

And a bit more exacto work to make a spot for the pods on the Cataphract.

Some super glue to assemble the cataphract and voila! It is time for paint!

And don’t worry about the Conquerer, I have a conversion in mind for it too. It just might not be a true mech when I’m done.......

More sci-fi stuff to come soon I hope!
And maybe just maybe I’ll try to make a backstory for these guys.
      Thankyou for looking!
