Plane arrives at DFW at 10am Thursday. No idea how long the Super Shuttle takes, but I would expect just before noon.

Going to keep an eye out for your posts tomorrow. Hope things go smoothly tomorrow.

Had fun at the meet and greet

also if anyone doesn’t want their Frontline games dungeon tile, we will accept them! My husband loves our two and wants more

also I have several minis for a box of goodwill donation

Sounds like a good exchange for the items you mentioned earlier tonight!!  I will be sure to bring those tiles since I do not need them. :)

P.S. WHY AM I STILL UP?!?!  I gotta be up and out of the house by 9 at the latest if I want to make my class on time.

you're kidding, right?  go to Kansas sometime.  you can go to one of the hi-rises in Kansas city and on a clear day you can see the mountains in Colorado.  THAT is a flat state!

I will admit, though, that most of the lumps in Tennessee are on the east side of the state...

I found my venture into North Dakota far flatter than Nebraska.  I swear you could shoot pool on some of those beet fields.

Thank you, sir!

I've been across much of eastern Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, parts of Oklahoma and Texas, (and lumpier states) and significant parts of Europe and Canada.

The flattest place I've ever seen (not counting dry lake beds or bodies of water) is the valley of the Red River of the North on the border between MN and ND. And it's not a close thing. The highest points of land around there are all freeway overpasses.

Note that if you can see things far away, it's not flat. The horizon is much closer than you think when you're standing on flat ground (around 3 miles/5km): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horizon#Distance_to_the_horizon

Kansas is flatter than a pancake (if you scaled up a pancake to the size of a state, it would have more topography).

Well that was spectacular.

Spoilered as its a bit of a rant

Plane gets out on tarmac an hour early the we spend an hour and 45 minutes while they add extra fuel.  Get into Houston to find no assistance and 15 minutes to make 2 terminals.  Been assured that they called the other gate to hold the flight.

Get to gate to find not only is the plane gone  but so is every agent in the terminal.

Find agent and they tell me the first flight united has available from their main hub to Dallas is at 1 on Thursday and since they offered me the option of making the flight (apparently they believe in instantaneous teleporting) they are under no obligation to provide lodging or food or transport to said lodging.

I go to acquire a rental car and ask for my bags.  Apparently those got loaded on the plane so I can't have them. And because it's not their fault I missed the flight, they feel no obligation to deliver the bags to the hotel.

Never flying United again.  That is the last time I am treated like garbage.  At least when Delta or American or Southwest mess up they are polite and apologetic.

So one rental car and 3.5 hours later I am in Dallas on room 1007.  At least I made it...

Blah. It is 3am my time, the time the cat usually wakes me up every night. So of course I wake up at that time even when he isn’t here to do it for me

Quiet down! Some of us are still trying to sleep!

Evidently there is a rash of the can't sleeps going around.

I've been basically awake since circa 3:00am, which if we were at home would be about the time I normally get to sleep.

Only upside is that for some reason the emoticons are now functioning on my tablet, they haven't been since I got this thing.

Now if I could just the pictures I took yesterday out of the camera.

I slept like the dead until 4am, then had a hard time getting back to sleep for awhile. I think overall I ended up getting between 5 and 6 hours, which is less than I would have liked, but should be enough to function on. I probably should have been expecting it, since my first night in a new place is always a bit rough. I think next year I might come a day early so as to be rested and relaxed for the first actual con day.

Huzzah!
