That is what suites are at most hotels...

Not always I've found. they are two different areas, but not always separated by wall. A LR / BR with 2 beds is the expectation. but, is the LR a room of its own? I could stay up reading in a separated LR until my sometimes absurd bedtime.

I'll post when I find out...

OK. I called them and they confirmed that the LR and BR are separated by a door.

So, I'm open to a roommate (female). I've got a 2 bed suite booked for Wed to Sun.

So I've been scouting about using Google maps and I've found a few food options near the hotel. There is an In-N-Out, McDonalds, Whataburger, Chipotle, Panera, Chili's, Cracker Barrell, Raising Canes, Chik-fil-a, Starbucks are all just on W University Dr. The Rudy's BBQ is actually about 5+ miles "down the road" and those without a vehicle may have to use a Lyft/Uber.

In-n-Out satisfies the soul as well as the body.

RE:  Check-In, Funds Hold Policy

My wife and I travel frequently for various Fraternal Activities, my wife quite extensively as she has served as an International Level Officer.

Hilton usually only charges at Check-In and usually only for the first day unless you request that they bill the entire amount to your account when you check in.

As far as funds holds go, it is quite common for an amount to be placed in a hold status over and above the actual charge amount.

This includes things like restaurant checks, where until it is determined whether a tip is included in the charge amount and the amount of that tip the final billing can't be computed.  For things such as credit card payment at an automated gas pump there is usually a fixed amount that will be authorized by your credit/debit provider, $75US being a common pre-authorization, and that amount will be held for up to three days until the billing cycle is reconciled.

Not understanding these fine points is how people sometimes get tripped up when traveling. You know you have X amount in your account when you leave for your trip, you spend amounts A,B,C,D, and etc and keep careful track of your spending, yet on the 6th day your card is declined even though you know there is sufficient money in the account to cover the bill being presented for payment.  The problem being that the bank/credit card company is still holding a reserve balance from charges submitted on your third day of travel that haven't cleared through the billing cycle, so there is not enough money in your account as far as the bank is concerned because of the unreconciled outstanding charges plus unreconciled reserve.

The remedy being to familiarize yourself with those classes of charges that usually incur a fixed charge being billed and then reconciled days later and paying cash whenever possible for these items.  For example, you travel by car.  Instead of charging each fuel purchase pay cash and use an ATM every couple of days to replenish your cash on hand.  The ATM transaction clears quicker and doesn't have the overhead of extra funds being blocked until the billing cycle clears.

Also, let your credit/debit card issuer know your rough itinerary.  They will put a note on your account when requested so that the travel charges don't suddenly pop up a red flag for "unusual activity" and find you hung out to dry on the road.  It also acts as an additional security check for your card issuer as they know you are supposed to be somewhere near >here<, which isn't your normal local or spending pattern but you definitely aren't >there< when "your" card is used someplace you aren't.

I personally have had that happen, even though both the wife and I try to be very careful in displaying our cards in public.  The specific incident I have in mind occurred a number of years ago and I know it was someone in a hotel lobby using a cell phone camera to grab a screen shot with the card info.  Fortunately for us our card issuer locked down the card when a couple of small charges came in from Mexico and they had our itinerary and Mexico was definitely not on the list.

One other thing.  Get a Hilton Honors Card, or the equivalent for whatever chain-affiliated lodging you use.  The points can add up quickly and even if it only means you get access to perks such as a concierge level hospitality room it's nice to be able to pick up a piece of fruit or a different tea than the one in the room sometimes.  And having a "free night" available on a rewards card can be pretty handy if some unexpected travel need should suddenly pop up.
