Seriously thinking about switching my overnight hotel at Boise this year. I'm staying at the same place as last year so I know what I'm getting. It's also close to the airport (the main reason) & it's like 5 bucks on Lyft but as this will be my last RCon till at least 2020, I'm thinking about splurging a bit. Drawbacks, it's about 20 bucks total for Lyft activities that night.

I've thought about swapping out to a nicer hotel, closer to an area I'd like to do things at the night I'm in Boise. Depending on where the hotel actually is, Lyft transportation will vary but won't be near 20 dollars, thou the Lyft ride will be about 10 bucks to the airport & the hotel itself will be double what I'm current paying. What to do, what to do.

So if by going on dollar numbers. I'm about 30 bucks down if I switch.

A year from now, which do you think you'd rather have? Memories of a good time in Boise/Reapercon, or an extra $30 you'll probably blow on something you can't remember?

Well I had a pretty good time last year (planning on doing the same thing). I've decided I'll stay at my current place. Again, it's the proximity to the airport that really important to me. I stayed at a place a few Cons ago. While it was nice & cheaper then the ones at the airport, the taxi ride to the airport in the morning, pretty much made it same as staying there. That & there the whole, I'd rather be closer to the airport just cause I need to be there at a certain time feeling.

+30 extra bucks is very nice to have while shopping or out to dinner during the Con as well, too. :)

If you are working on multiple entries drop everything and work on the one that is closest to being finished. Concentrate on that piece and you should be able to finish. Most of us get distracted by working on to many entries and end up right where you are now. The other option is to go back and look at pieces you have finished in the past six months and enter one or more of those. You could even take some time and improve the work on one or more of those as well. There are always options. The competition is really there to get feedback, real honest feedback, so that you can improve.

I find that this is great advice for painting up minis for my rpgs as well. At the start I tried to put on basic colors on multiple figures but lately I've started to work on single figures with certain colors. I am finding thou, if I go "Ok, leather brown: Find all the minis that need this color. Next color: Find minis. Rinse & repeat." It's helping them get finished or at least get majority of the colors on em. I'm not a Army painter (one reason I could never get into Warhammer back in the day) or the fastest painter but again every little bit helps towards the final goal.

that's how i speed paint, in general. Just slap the color on all minis that use the color, then move on to the next
