I've been collecting minis for almost 30 years and finally getting around to doing what I've been wanting to do which is actually paint them.  Started a couple months ago with a few Dark Sword Critter Kingdom minis and an old Grenadier dragon.  And now this, which is my first Reaper mini and an attempt at NMM.

Not my 2nd mini.  6th or 7th?

 

And, I admit, I have a theater set design degree.  So certain painting techniques and observations aren't foreign to me.  Though I haven't painted in years.  And certainly not at this scale with such small brushes and tools.  Many youtube videos have helped get the gears turning.

This is extremely nice for an early effort.

 

That is a pretty convincing evocation of metallic paints, right there!

 

It’s always interesting to me to see how people with an arts background approach miniatures painting.

 

(My background is not dissimilar. I collected (and painted) minis from forty years ago, nearly, but gave away my collection when adulting happened. Then I got a fine arts degree and eventually came back. I remain fascinated by all the different approaches people take.)

It makes the axe look a lot more balanced, I think.

Haha!  And I even referenced a few pics of the model and didn't notice it doesn't belong.

      Including his Dwarf sized coffee mug, slightly yellowed due to lack of washing. Which would violate the 1st Dictate of Agamenthar "Thou Shalt Not Wash Thy Mug and Remove the Accumulation of Blessed Flavor Therein."
