lowlylowlycook
My main wargamging buddy and I are getting into a game called Imperial Skies. It's kind of a Steam Punk game about Battleships and also smaller ship that fly. I've got a French fleet and a Austro-Hungarian fleet. Below are the test models I used for working out a color scheme. Eventually they will be on telescoping stands. Having worked that out schemes I've started on a flotilla of French ships: Nightmare black on the hulls, NMM Gold Highlight and Solid white on the superstructures. Hmmmm, I think I messed up and the NMM Gold was supposed to be a highlight Applied Driftwood Brown to the decks and put a GW Yellow wash on the yellow superstructure. That seemed to make them even more yellow. Hmmmmm. BTW all the centerline guns on the battleships are magnetized so they turn. More later.

Looking good. Speaking of magnetizing things, I'm thinking about starting to incorporate them into my 3d printed designs - any good resources that you know of about choosing sizes/types? lowlylowlycook
I'm no expert. I just pick up rare earth magnets off the internet and then try to find out which drill bit might fit. In this case the magnets are way much stronger than would be necessary to keep the turrets in place even if you turned the ships upside down. lowlylowlycook
Well the next step was to mistakenly pick up a can of metallic paint when I wanted to put another coat of varnish on these guys. It's not a step I would recommend. Luckily I didn't hit them too bad and since I was trying to get the bottoms it was mostly the hulls that needed touched up.
