Greetings all! It is I, the Questgiver! Wait, no, the New Questioner! You are now on a quest to answer questions for a whole month! *mad cackling*

Okay, onward to December's questions. We shall discuss random things. We shall discuss ourselves. We shall converse about holidays and food! We shall have fun and merriment and describe said fun and merriment with mirth (not ruling out some moodiness).

For December 1st:

What have you done that you are proud of lately? It can be a big thing. It can be a small thing. We know you are at least glad to have done something

Proud might be a big word, but I'm pretty happy having finished my training course I needed for my job.

I accepted a job offer. I start on Dec 11, assuming foolishness doesn't happen this time. Srsly, the US federal hiring freeze robbed me of this exact job in January and now buzzybuzz-worthy shenanigans are beginning again.

I bought computer parts. I spent $550 thus far so I still have money left in case something goes weird. Gonna build an Imperial Red desktop: evil red case, RAM, PSU, and processor were all on sale :B):

...it's gonna eat me innit :;,;: At least my name isn't Dave

... I have succeeded at adulting for most of this month, and not panicked when things were looking like fried pants with a side of fluxery.

I also managed to organize and properly shelf well over half the book collection in the house. That's not a small thing.

Spending the day with my son on the first day of deer season and teaching him the skills he needs to hunt.

Getting old enough to become a mentor at work. Its officially strange now, I look at the yutes (bonus points for catching the reference) and actually feel a bit like a father as I see them succeed. Its not all me of course, but its definitely a shift in perspective for sure.

I have, in a variety of ways, successfully adulted recently. But the thing I guess I'm most proud off recently was gaming with my nieces and nephews. I'm not great with kids... So that was something of an accomplishment.

For the first time, in all the many hours of playing it, I have finally finished the main quest line in skyrim. Yes, I have killed the big grumpy dragon/wyvern. And I'm almost done with the civil war quest line.

Yes people, Soon(tm) I will platinum Skyrim!

I finally got over the hump and started painting the minis I've been stockpiling over the past year.

Also cleaned/organized my living room. Still really need to get to my bedroom and the office

After years of ... interesting times, it looks like my son is becoming a responsible adult. He's managing multiple jobs and school, he earned his Eagle, he seems to be a safe driver, he has plans for the future that make sense.

I don't know how much of that was my doing (probably less than even I think), but I'm pretty darn proud anyway.

Glad you asked !

If you haven't heard of NaNoWriMo  - the goal is to write a 50k word novel in a single month.

Finished "The Nameless Star" 50,069 words. It needs a bit (months) of editing. On the last night about 9 pm
A good chunk of it bears a resemblance to an RPG exploration of an abandoned alien colony.
writing scenes, with the main characters acting and the world reacting is a lot like writing an adventure, or PbP game.
I will be writing another one, but probably not trying to get this first one published.

Are there things I have done? Yes.  Are there things I have done that I am proud of?  Yes.  Can I combine the two since ReaperCon (my version of Lately)...

Painting?  Nope... my goal was completion and though I made progress, I have not finished any...

You know what... I think I am going to say that I rearranged the living room and I am very proud of that.  I streamlined my desk.  Moved my wife's computer desk to our bedroom (she got a work laptop after many years of waiting so is happy to just have that on the couch), I made a space for her to do yoga on the days she doesn't go in to the shala for her Ashtanga practice.  I opened up the floor of the living room even more than it was previously (or feels that way).

Oh, and a couple of days ago I made a fantastic spaghetti sauce with angus beef, portabello mushrooms, onion, bell pepper, etc.  It is all gone now, of course, but it was one of the better things I have cooked in 2017.  Also, I think I have finally gotten the cooking of angel hair pasta down... not too done, and after cooling the pasta it doesn't stick and I'm not using any oil in it.  Even two days later the pasta just slides all through itself and doesn't have any residue.  Great... I needed a better breakfast... now I'm hungry again...

I haven't started murdering annoying customers.  That's a good thing, right?
