@Dilvish the Deliverer @etherial @Pingo @Cyradis .. and Pezler, who'd get the red tag treatment if it wasn't giving me the finger...

Gather your minions and delve into the depths of the Midnight Sea for the legendary lost Shield of Ages, which, the legend has it, has been used as a replacement scale for a dragon for ages untold.

Take a lot of acid protection. You might just need it ..... or was it lightning? That page seems to be missing. Oh well, you're adventurers, right? You're clever. G'wan with you, we need that shield before the hoards decend on us. If you can talk the dragon into helping, there's a nice bonus in it for you.

The Questgiver gives a question of questing! PART TWO!

Recall the members of your questing party (and tag them). If you are jumping in now, pick the previous five posters as your party.

Your adventuring party has mostly succeeded at their quest (tagged members may jump in with their questing woes). When they return to you, the questgiver, how are they rewarded? Was it all a trap? Did something happen while they were on an adventure that they must overcome before finishing their quest in full?

My party survived the portal to the new world and the initial attack by slavers/pirates.  They succeeded in avoiding the Mageocracy (who were very interested in "studying" these humans from another world and have been able to make contact with a resistance movement, providing them a base of operations.  they have so far discovered that this portal has opened several other times in history and various cultures throughout history have come through in the past (Babylonians, Egyptians, Greeks and Vikings ect).  They still haven't figured out how to open a portal from this side.  They have figured out that the Mageocracy is interested in the same thing; planning on conquesting this new world.

The adventure continues.

(BTW, this is a setting that I have outlined as a possible source of a one-shot or continuing game.  Ruleset would most likely be Savage Worlds)

You are all bastard children of Augustus the Strong of Saxony. Emperor Charles VI of the Holy Roman Empire has just died and Maria Theresa has assumed the throne. Though all the crowned heads of Europe have sworn to support her, everyone knows that war is in the offing. Your task is to ensure the survival of Saxony in the coming world war.

Beware, though, since the bastards of Augustus are everywhere. Everywhere. And not all of them support Saxony.

It's 1740. You have managed to convince your half-brother to stay true to his word and support Maria-Theresa. You've also managed to bring the British, Dutch and Sardinians in on the side of Austria-Hungary. Unfortunately, the French, Spanish, Bavarians, and hated Prussians under their new king Friedrich II have declared war.

Note that this is a pretty historical description of the beginning of the War of the Austrian Succession, which I've thought for a while would make a fantastic setting for an adventure RPG. Saxony (and particularly Dresden, the "Florence of the North") at that time was one of the cultural centers of Europe. Dresden Castle contained one of the great art collections in Europe, JS Bach was the court composer, the court alchemist had managed to create porcelain for the first time in Europe in his tower in Meissen, ....

Spies and assassins in powdered wigs could be pretty entertaining as a game, I think. I just need to find the right rules set.

It's the end of the world. It's the end of all worlds. The universe is packing it in. You have all the knowledge and technology that this universe has developed, but that won't be enough to save you. Find what will... Survive if you can.

In the void between universes you survive. In the only darkness and void you are at once utterly alone and cut of from everything, yet surrounded by myriad sparkling something off across unmeasurable distances.

Picking one at random, you move toward it...

It's infinitesimally small, the seed of a new universe. Will you plant the seed, and bring fourth a new universe? Will you become gods?

The minis are all failing, they are dying and fading. There is only one hope to save them. You must venture forth into the vast northern wilderness and retrieve the most magical of all paints, the Everlasting Chroma Bottle. Rumors report that a particularly wise goblin is hoarding it in or near a bog of eternal stench. You have 3 20 days!

The intrepid adventurers ventured forth into the northern wilderness and located the Everlasting Chroma Bottle secured inside an even more powerful artifact -- The Shoe of Bryan. The adventurers return with both items and can tell that the Shoe of Bryan is powerful, but they can not yet discern its true function. They are informed that the Shoe of Bryan is not actually complete, for its has been split in twain and separated from its other half. The party is told that the twin half is on its way west to the Land of Sacrificial Men's Toes but if the adventurers can successfully navigate the splitting and burning lands therein and reunite the two pieces it will create a most miniaturized weapon of secret power! Do they dare to brave the wilds?

To be fair, I'd probably want the minis for just about anything. :)

You are now on a quest to bring the Master of the Snails out of hermitude. He lives somewhere on a beach thousands of miles away, and can summon thunderous Dragon Snails to his aid. However, he holds the secret to saving your land: the recipe and resources to make Snail Glue. Snail Glue can bind any two substances together, better than any krazy glue can. Castles built with Snail Glue between stones can withstand hundreds of blasts from catapults or cannons. Wheels with a coating of snail glue will never break.

If you fail to appease the Master of the Snails, your land will fall, as it is under attack from the Underdark (probably led by Knarthax). The Underdark is strong but has no magic suitable for removing Snail Glue from your weapons and defenses!

Go.... use the power of snails to save you all!

My adventurers found Charlie the Snail Master. Despite @Doug Sundseth's efforts to manipulate him, he remained stoic. @Pingo's bardic tales jollied him up though. It also helped that she promised to sew sweaters for his 42 pet snails (pony sized snails).

@Aryanun and @Gargs were able to discover how to transport the snail glue back to the home castle, with Charlie's blessing. Obviously, @Dilvish the Deliverer was eager to deliver the good news.

Upon returning to the home castle though, they discovered that @knarthex had already invaded!

My adventuring party retreated to a neighboring village and began making weapons fortified with snail glue so that they could drive out the invaders from the Underdark. They will soon be able to reclaim their castle and begin their crafting projects promised to Charlie the Snail Master. Should they make pleasing snail sweaters, Charlie has promised to move his snail farm to their land and his snails will fight for them.

They are an adventuring band in my own home-brew campaign world, that way no one can read the source material and tell me that I goofed something.::D:

Their quest is to travel North, to the land of ice and snow, to bring back the magical winter crystal in order to use it to thwart the evil Summer sorceror and his plot to disrupt the changing of the seasons.

No hints are given or necessary; this is a standard 'go fetch' type quest. The party knows where to go and what to do, they just need to do it.

Despite the best efforts of @Thes Hunter to sabotage the mission, the party was successful! (Thes was repeatedly charmed to ensure her compliance)

The party was rewarded with nice warm mugs of peppermint hot cocoa with little marshmallows in it.

After many ordeals and hardships, the party comes home to find that there is no pie left.

Sorry guys - I got hungry while waiting for you to come back.

The quest put the party through their greatest challenges to date. In their goal to find the identity of the poisoner, they thoroughly searched the envoy's room to find any clues. Nothing seemed amiss, except for two mostly-empty vials of fragrances that the diplomat brought with him; odd, because the body didn't smell that strongly of cologne when it was examined. The party members that were more knowledgeable of such things realized that the contents of both vials were harmless by themselves, by when combined together they created a deadly poison that killed the victim within two hours. In the end, during their investigation they managed to figure out that the poisoner was none other than the ambassador himself, as part of a plot to greatly enhance Baconia's position at the bargaining table. By having their  envoy be agreeable to Caffeinia's terms and then dying suddenly, it put a black mark on the host's reputation. Baconia's army when then be sent to the border demanding blood, and only by the intervention of their new diplomat who would demand great concessions in the peace compact would their anger be quelled. The plan was then to have the original envoy's body returned to his homeland, where he would be raised and would have been given a hero's welcome for executing such a masterful plan that brough wealth to their country at a rival nation's expense.

Such a dire scheme was foiled by such a group of intrepid adventurers, and they were honoured by the grand King himself for their valour, and were then inducted into the Knights of Espresso. Also, they would get 40% off any large coffee served anywhere in the city, as long as it was on Tuesdays between 4-7 p.m., in perpetuity. Coffee vendors need to make a living too, you know.
