Hey all! I don't think I've posted any pics before, I'm relatively new to the hobby and still very green, so the paint jobs aren't nearly as amazing as some of the others here. Also, not gonna lie, wish I had a better camera than my phone. But I took the photos and I'm fairly proud of them, so I might as well show you guys!

I made these guys as a warband for the long-dead-but-still-cool Warhammer subgame Mordheim. The default Chaos flavor is a little generic grimdark for my tastes, lots of red/black, skulls, etc. I wanted something more visually striking, and hopefully slightly unnerving, to bring to the table; whats more, having basically no money to spend on miniatures GW discontinued 15 years ago, I challenged myself to get the job done with Reaper Bones I still had lying around unpainted. It took some conversion work, and a few painting experiments with a mixed bag of results, but I finally got everything together!

Lets go down the roster!

Brother Festus and Brother Remble

Just a couple of Bones Cultists, gently converted to properly arm them with weapons that could count as clubs in-game. The guy on the right was a simple hand transplant from 77122: Tierdeleira (whose hair went to another mini), but it proved more difficult to arm the left cultist, who had both hands on that book. Basically nipped his wrist off, carefully shaved his hand from the pages of the book, and then cut where the book meets his chest so I could fold it in and make room for a weapon hand (generously donated from Galladon, Male Wizard). These guys went through a few different color combos, but I liked where they eventually settled, and ended up using it as the color basis for the others.

Wretched Athok, and Bellsworth The Warlock

These two are basically unconverted, being more or less perfect for their intended purposes right out of the blister. Guy on the left is the warband's leader and Magister, and thus gets a slightly fancier, but more well-worn version of the cultist's robes. Guy on the right is a hired mercenary, a warlock for coin that I'll have to pay for at the beginning of every battle, so I figured it appropriate that he'd have his own clothes and robes, and just be wearing the "hat" of whomever he's currently working for. Maybe someday I'll paint over the scribbles in their respective books and scrolls (you can see I tried and failed to scrawl "CONTRACT" at the top of Bellsworth's scroll), I'm just no damn good at freehand yet.

Tybalt and Wink, Mutants

Playing Chaos is fun because you get to send in the mutated freaks. In this case, giant protruding spines and a prehensile eyestalk, respectively. Both of these guys are actually made from the same base model, the bones Ghast. Tybalt got his hair from the same dark elf I stole Remble's mace from, which was a really fun to paint but I kinda screwed up by applying a glossy finish, and borrowed a spear from a Heroclix amazon I have like 10 of. The spines are just plain old toothpicks, cut to size and glued whereever I could fit them! Meanwhile, Wink got his eyestalk from a Bones Eye Beast I'd been putting off painting (you'll see where the rest of them ended up shortly), and his arms I took off of a prepainted D&D Bugbear I got when I first started collecting. He's a cool mini, but he's also a Bugbear, which are a pretty stupid monster race, so he mostly served as an off-color orc I'd throw into crowds. The scale on the arms is way off, but I figured screw it, he's a mutant.

Bilecraw The Radiant, Beastman
Beastmen are fairly easy to come by, but at this point, who cares about a skinny minotaur or some dumb lug with a goat head? I wanted to get weird with it. This guy was a good old-fashioned kitbash, born from me desperately rooting around in my bin of old heroclix gathering dust in the basement for (a: something bird-themed (Tzeentch likes birds), and (b: a beefy torso and legs, preferably armed with a club. I eventually found the raw materials I needed in an admittedly cool Dark Phoenix figure, Hercules for the torso, and a quick hand transplant from Absorbing Man. Very happy with how the paint job on the wings turned out, he's definitely going to stand out on the table, which may be a problem when it comes to, say, crossbowmen, but I guess that's a bridge to be crossed later. May want to try getting a few more angles with this guy, theres a lot to love.

Reinholdt Forever-Altered, Possessed
For the mutated-beyond-sanity heavy-hitter of the warband, I dove into my bitz box, and basically combined pieces from something like four different already-cut-up minis with a little filler putty and superglue, to make a thoroughly broccolied-up Chaos spawn. Original figures, to wit: headbodytentacles (remember I said these'd show up again?), claw. Because he's got a lot more depth to him than most guys, its hard to photograph him, so you miss stuff like the arc of the claw, the little red eyes on the tentacles, or his windswept white hair, but you get the gist. Just a big ol Cronenberg.

All that took me about a week and a half to get through, but it was a lot of fun! I'm hoping to get more done over the next couple weeks, just for laughs and to get through my backlog of unpainted minis. I'm also eyeing the aforementioned now-tentacle-less Eye Beast, who at this point is a few easily-obtained horns away from being a dead ringer for a DOOM Cacodemon.

A very fitting tribute to the classic days of Mordheim.  I'm glad they're doing both physical and STLs...I like to copy everything and mirror it when I print multi-part pieces to get more variety.

They've also got several add-ons of some of their existing conversion sets.

"Mighty backers, welcome to the second campaign by Grimforge Miniatures!
A difficult year has passed for all and we have worked hard on a lot of projects but the main project which has lead our work is to create a new range of multicomponent miniatures capable to give you the opportunity to assembly a lot of different warbands, an evolving  expandable system born to integrate old and new models and kit for the best kitbash you can imagine.
we have decide to keep the grimdark fantasy style full of citations from the 90's period and from the paint of artists like hyeronimus bosch.
We have also taken the big decision to release for the first time also a digital version of this kit to give everyone the opportunity to print their scoundrels at home.  So you have 2 options: traditional resin models or Stl files.

We have sculpted a complete multicomponent kit and we have a solid range of Stretch Goals to give you the opportunity to unleash your scoundrels during your games. All our miniatures are cast in Italy with high quality resin, the best way to give you miniatures as faithful as possible to the original sculptures. If you already know our models, you already have proof of the quality of our products. On the other hand, if this is your first experience with us then you are even luckier! in the last year we have improved the quality of our models and our efficiency so you will receive our best job!
here are the "Scoundrels of the damned ruins": mercenaries, treasure seekers, cutthroats... these are the scum who are ravaging the Damned Ruins and you will be able to assembly a warband in a lot of different styles, from pirate to landsknecht with a moltitutide of weapons and accessories."

Satheras craved more power!  He spent hours, sometimes days submerging into fel magic....  until the ground started burning beside his feet....

That is all for my "rich" lore 🙂 Now on the serious note.  I kind of feel I tried to bite too much with this figure.  My first ever attempt at OSL.  I thought I can redo this much better, but I try to stick to the philosophy of not redoing, but moving forward - this way I have things to refer back to in the future.  The ground burning effect and the overall style and color palette were inspired by World of Warcraft cinematics:

As always, let me know what you think!  The more feedback, the better!

      Hi All.
Getting in a weirdland here 🙂
Can someone please tell me what the hack is this? 🙂
I see some people treat it as a boot-top.  Others make it into a ribbon with a pendant hanging off of his calf.  Either way seems weird to me.

      Thanks!

As every year I make at least one Pit Fighter as a sacrifice to a Mordheim revival, I started out early this year.

For the holidays, a friend got me the Greenfield Grasshuggers Blood Bowl team, despite me not playing, he said it felt weird to have a team named in my honor but I didn't own it.  So instead, he enabled this horror:

Out of the cruel depths of Mordheim's cheapest fighting pits comes the never-victor, the eternally battered Halfling Gladiator only known as Bloodytoes!

The other is an as-is Ogre Gladiator from Knightmare Models.  Delightfully retro.
