How to base some of the CAV models (including CAV dictator)

Hi all,

 

I just finished a CAV dictator and went to put him on his standard hex base, when I realized his "bones" base is too large.  I have already painted and sealed it and was wondering what the best way to remove the base was to minimize damage?

A really sharp X-acto blade or scalpel.

 How much of the base is hanging over the edge? Are the feet themselves going to fit on the hex base or will they hang over as well?

As mentioned, the best way to trim the base to fit would be a sharp hobby knife with a nice brand new blade. You can simply slice off the parts of the base that will hang over the edges, and then just touch up the  now-exposed edges with paint and brush-on sealer.

 

If the feet themselves hang over the edge of the hex base, you'll need to decide whether or not squeezing the legs together a bit when you glue the figure to the base so that the feet fit within the dimensions of the base will make them look noticeably bent.
