and it happens to be a question...

That's a little beaut, but, how can I achieve that cyan type colour predominant on it? Which colour or blend of colours from which range, do you think?

It's really unique I think in so far that every other aqua-marine type colour I've seen about just doesn't hit that tone, you know? Maybe it's just the camera...

All help appreciated :D

Oh yeah, one more thing, who's from Sydney around here? I'm not, but I'm curious...

The caption does mention the problem with the green affecting the rest of the photo.

Ohhh I used to live near there!! Hay to be exact, and West Wyalong, and Wilcannia, and Broken Hill, and Sydney, and another small town who's name escapes me at the moment!

Ahhhh That's it, Cobar. How could I forget that?? Hmmmm.....

Welcome! Sorry, guys, I haven't been posting as much in past months as I should...

Uh...honestly, Lumpy, I'm not sure. ::P: That's one of the first Confrontation pieces I did, and I was still using Armory paints (since discontinued) for most of my work. And, yeah, it was before I got the hang of the camera, so I'm not sure how green or blue he really was.

Looking at my current paints, though, I think you could approximate the base color with a mixture of Vallejo Dark Sea Blue and Reaper Ghoul Grey; that could probably be highlighted up with a mixture of Seafoam and Pegasus Blue. Hope that helps a bit.

See, told you guys she was around. Nice to see you, Jen. ::D:

The highlight reminds me of Vallejo Model Color Sky Green. Think that would work? Could add a darker blue/green for the basecoat, and blend up to Green Sky for the highlight.

BTW, Jen, I love the Lysette you use as your Avatar. How did you get the cracked jem in her staff? Superhuman brush control?

Hmm. Looking at my Sky Green, I think it's a little on the yellow side--but worth trying.

Gem: My trusty Tiny Detail Brush, very light loading, and off-white paint thinned with a good bit of flow improver. Paint on jagged streaks, wash over quickly for a milky look. It was really a quickie job, truly. Sometimes not thinking about it helps the control.

If not thinking while you paint helped, I'd be a whole lot better. I will try that technique - a few months of screaming bouts of frustration and I'll probably get it. Worked for copying the way you do faces. ::D:

I think you hit the nail on the head with it being a quickie job, too. Sometimes spending a long time on something doesn't make it better. Some of my best stuff has come from just slapping on the paint and letting it go.

Thanks Jen, I'll see what I can figure out from your (and others) advice

I'm asking about closeness to Sydney because my sister I didn't know about (long story) lives somewhere around there, errr, Kenthurst, I think, and I was planning on visiting her in my visit to Sydney later this year for Games Day.

Does anyone know how far or close it is to Sydney proper, and can someone suggest some good accomodation details for something like a month?

If you go to www.whereis.com & enter Kenthurst & NSW it will give you a map & www.sydney.com.au has links for accomodation & other useful things to do. ::):
