Yeah... I had to go back and re-read the newsletter.  I had kind of skimmed over it in October.  

Any of the systems that are currently active in the Classic Hero Labs will continue to get updated content.  Any new content (and most of the old content) will be added to the Online version.  If I am understanding it all correctly.

Yep.  Especially when you can buy a +2 ability increase at 2-3rd Level

Introducing Cain the Armor Storm Soldier.  Modeled on the philosophy of What Would Juggernaut Do, I did make some changes to my original concept.  Buying the suit of armor with every penny was tempting, but I thought I should save some money for a toothpaste kit, and the usual adventuring stuff.

Story time - Like many children, Cain grew up wanting to be like his father, a famous, well regarded Vesk general.  He became a mercenary to win the accolades and respect that his father commanded.  However his travels took him to Absalom Station where Cain met those dispossesed by his father's conquests.  In time, he began to respect the refugees more than his father.  Eventually, Cain dropped his birth name and adopted his current moniker from an ancient story about a son who rejected his father.  
Cain now strives to win the respect of the other vesk so that he may go back and lead them to better, more peaceful interactions with other races.  He knows he must do this the traditional way, through honorable but violent work, and he is willing to go toe to to with enemies in order to earn his chops.  Absalom Station has become his true home and driving mantra is "I am not my father's son".

Zataka has always had his heroes.  His favorites were in action shows and real life adventurers.  When Zataka was 17 his uncle introduced him to the famous Starfinder Society member Rikan Satterwilde, adventurer extraordinaire, while he visited the Ibari.  Seeing Zataka’s enthusiasm and interest, Satterwilde’s parting words, “You’ve got it, kid!” has been a goad ever since.  Zataka pushes himself daily to become stronger and faster and records himself doing so to check his progress.  Being in front of the camera became second nature and seeing some of his adventure videos, his family and friends have helped push him away from the comfortable Ibari homeship and into an intersection with Absalom Station and the Starfinder Society, to see if it will be a good fit for both.  Zataka has been surprised at how some people and races have treated him as a lone Kasatha versus the groups he has previously travelled with, but this has not dampened his enthusiasm yet...

Maintenance Android Ten was created to serve the Azalnti Empire as a general maintenance worker aboard on of their Tribute Freighters.  These ships collected the tribute that the Vassal world produced and brought them back to the Alzlant homeworld.  MA-10's responsibilities involved general engineering and computer work.  As the ship MA-10 was assigned to also carried various life forms, MA-10's duties were expanded to ensure those life forms remained alive until they reached their destination.  The rest of the crew were all Vassal races and MA-10 has never met one of the Masters.

 

During a trip to an outlying mining operation, the Tribute Freighter was attack and boarded by pirates.  Most of the crew was killed in the fighting, but one of the pirates had ties to the Android Liberation front, and rescued MA-10 from a lifetime of servitude.  Renamed Max (MA-10, MA-X, Max), the android has since served on several vessels before reaching the Pact Worlds.  

 

While not having a gender, most humanoid Sophants assume Max is female due to her diminutive size, slight build, fine features and short blue hair.  'She' has set out for Absolom Station to learn more about the the wider universe.

I think Zataka gets an extra Res point.  I believe it is half your level (rounded down, minimum 1) plus your stat bonus.

So, looks like so far we have two close combat specialists and one magicer/ranged attacker. 

 

Zataka's got the one of the Captain skills, Cain can be a gunner (so can Zataka if that's better than being a Captain at this point) and Max can cover pilot, engineer or science officer if need be.  If either Shadowraven or Kangaroorex make a mechanic, that should cover another engineer or science officer position, plus whatever other skills they take.  Looks like we need some more shooty at the moment.  Ecocortex Mech get Heavy Armor and Longarms, Drone mech get a gun platform.  So either way that helps.

I wouldn't mind some extra social skills too.  Or someone else besides me with survival.  I don't mind but I like having backups.

CHA is my dump stat so that's it for me.  I do get 8 skill points per level so I can try and shore up some weak areas in later levels.

I’ll check it. I was bouncing stats a LOT trying to get STR, DEX, CON and CHA while not taking a hit to INT (Racial is -2). The bonus to WIS is not helpful initially, but I don’t have a choice there. Level 5 is coming and will help where I am going.

Actually, that means I still had Res at the place when I still had a +2 bonus before I dropped CHA to get +1 in DEX. Now it is down to 2...

As for Bluff, Diplomacy and Intimidate (Captain’s actions) all of them are class skills and will be trained soon. Can still be a great gunner though if the captain is a better fit for someone. No other crew spots are going to be easy to fill though... at least for Zataka.

Maybe I should "roll" my stats, eh?

Str 16, Dex 13, Con 12, Int 12, Wis 12, Cha 16

Hopefully I haven't missed anything.  I think I am through changing my character sheet.  I did modify my stats one last time after looking at the 5-10-15 progression.  I'll take the Dex hit for now.  I'm buffing my Cha and dropped Perception for Athletics (because it fits how his character has developed much more... )
