I just saw that title, and "Half Pirate ... Half SNAKE?!?" -- I had to check this out.  :D

Cool convers-- oh, wait, I just did a Google search on that name, and that's the way the figure normally looks!  Heh!  I thought for sure this was a kit-bash.  Anyway, I love the colorful diamond-scale patterning, and also the splashy water-texture effects on the base.

Thx!

Yes it is actually a Vanilla Mini from Freebooter, but she fits into my Lost World stories, I had to have her!

She is pretty big too, that's a 40mm base.

Thank you!

As for experience with painting reptiles, take a look at my Lost World Project.

I had reptiles and amphibians as pets in my youth and I love nature.

Looking at the real thing will provide inspiration.

I always say that Nature is the best painter.

Very true! I actually own a western hognose named Bacon. I'm thinking of getting some yuan-ti or similar and painting them up in his colours (he's an albino).

One of these?

Awesome pattern!

I'm painting loads of reptiles and dinosaurs in my Lost World Project.

Might steal this pattern for a snakeman!

What a cute little fellow!

I'm a slow painter, but I can see this pattern being used in my Snake Army!

It will show up!

I have been printing minis with my new toy ( Elegoo Mars Resin Printer), this is a 3D printed Giant Snake from Artisan Guild.

Part of my Lost World Project.
      WIP HERE:

I was inspired by the Coral Snake.
Pics with and without fancy background and with Angelica Fairweather ( Rosetta Salazar in my Project) for size comparison.

I recently finished playing Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire and felt the urge to paint something piratey.  There is a lot of room for improvement, and I regret my colour scheme (It is lacking a bit of contrast) but I still enjoyed painting this one, I even felt adventurous enough to attempt some weathering on the sword which didn't turn out as horrible as I anticipated.  Overall a good learning exercise.

      Miniature:  Captain Razig
      Maker: Reaper Minatures
      SKU: 02437

It's been a while since I've painted a Reaper miniature, so I thought I would post my latest creation here.

I had a lot of fun painting this mini - blue is one of my favorite colors to blend with, and I enjoy painting fun hair, like her braid in the back.  TMM was used on the metal.

Have painted up this motley crew to add to the pirate skirmish collection I seem to be building.

The Dwarf is from the Pirates of the Dread Sea kickstarter, from a micro company in the UK.

The big orc is an ogryn from Privateer Press.

The chap with a musket has been painted as a half orc, he is a Reaper mini from the Warlord line.

Have finished off these skeleton pirates. They are all Reaper minis from the Razig faction in the Warlord line.

Really enjoyed painting these. I worked up from a cream paint spray and a sepia wash. Lots of brighter but desaturated colours for the cloth and lots of rust and brass tones for the metal. The bases are resin, from a company called MVP. I used a sepia wash again at the end of the process and then an all over drybrush with beige.

The plan is to pit these against the orc pirates I have been working on. I also have some Freebooter Fate minis and some dwarf and halfling pirates from elsewhere. Plus a load of Reaper pirates. Aaaargh.
