I think the other problem WoD has is that it's fairly fragmented (Vampire, Werewolf, Changeling, etc) with each being at the throats of the others, and even more so the time commitment involved.

Was a really fun world though, I'm saddened the group I was part of didn't get all that far, I wanted to see how long My Brujah could survive, what with wearing a suit the whole time... (what's more "rebellious"  than dressing the complete opposite if what "you're supposed to wear"? :p)

We used to tease that the seemingly insurmountable problems within the WoD universe would be solved if the members of any one group ever actually talked to the members of any other.

A slightly deeper problem is that the different games within the WoD have contradictory and mutually incompatible histories, mechanics and rules, usually handwaved over in the sourcebooks by claiming that the groups do not communicate or indeed encounter each other all that much.

The GM has a lot of experience inventing and finding the logic within game worlds, which helps. It also helps that this game folds in "Exalted" as the world's prehistory and what's really going on.

So, I'm coming at this primarily from a LARP angle, but I am genuinely curious what that game looks like.  I mean, I guess it could be Vampions style (dark themed superhero game) with enough contortions so that nobody has to go out and do terrible things, or can at least pretend they don't.  Sort of like how Angel was a "vampire with a soul" so he didn't have to murder random people for their blood on the regular.  Plus he was fighting demons, which are further along the badguy hierarchy.

I started a thread about the game some while back (a bit slow on updates, sorry). As mentioned, it incorporates "Exalted" as prehistory, though the world looks like the classic WoD (although without much of the "World's Gonna End Next Week" portents - we all hated what the canon did to the Ravnos, for example).

It is a little bit like a superhero game since the PCs are newly Exalted characters. And it's less dark than it might be since the power scale of the Exalted is so far beyond most of the WoD.

But the vampires are still baddies and still eat people. One of the PCs used to be a vampire and did some very bad things in the past. Not everybody's hands are clean.

It's the PCs' job to try to set the world to rights. Nobody said it would be simple.

Edit: And OMG, it is so much fun ...

Which is worse: failing, or never trying?

I believe everyone agreed, never trying.  Although it does fall to *some* self esteem issues if you cannot do some things that others do, that is a way of life.

What was your favorite bit of last week?

(if you had a sucky week, please try to think of some moment, no matter how brief, that brought you at least a little joy.)

I went to a job fair last week (interview tomorrow, fingers crossed).

If you were asked to design a new line of minis for an under-represented segment of the hobby, what would you create?

Gnomes and Blue Goblins.

That is pretty much what I am doing. Sentient Mushrooms & Trees with Faerie Loonies & such. It is Steam-Whacko-Whimsy-Punk.

And I personally think that thread is awesome!

What hobbying did you accomplish this weekend?

(and if no hobbying, what other thing did you accomplish?)

Painting:  None.  Pathfinder:  Started organizing my thoughts on pregenerated characters for the kids' pathfinder game and played WAR with my daughter.

I can't decide between a line based on the 1980s Flash Gordon movie and one based on the early elves from the Silmarillion

Finished the skeleton minotaur that's been sitting on my painting table for a couple months. Finished my 6 roman camel cavalry that I've been working on for 6 months or more. These weren't really bad minis but for some reason they just couldn't hold my interest. Even though they have fairly basic paint jobs it took forever to get them done. This month I was even forcing myself to work on them. Ok paint a camel rider for 10 minutes then you can paint what you want. So happy to see the end of them. Also reorganised my mini shelf some because I still have 3 armies in boxes that I want to set up some day. I have shelf space but not when everybody is running loose everywhere. Once in parade formation it frees up a lot of space.

I broke my air compressor, but in the process base coated seven Space Marines and finally used Stynylrez  the way it was intended and I'm sold on the stuff.

I had been meaning to actually get to painting the mini that I've got prepped, but I got preoccupied with something else, so I ended up just doing a few more detail touches on the base I've got ready for it.  Very happy with how it's turning out, for my first time making a complete base, but at the same time, I really should put some paint on the mini that'll mount it at some point

Finally finished assembling several boxes of miniatures for someone. I'm finally free to do my own projects!

With the exception of buying and selling some bits on EBay I have done no ‘game/miniatures hobbying’ In about 2 years. Although I have painted a couple of vintage figures

probably begs the question as to why I frequent these boards.

I started my Eye Beast for the FB contest. I'm about 1/4 of the way done.

I managed to get a little bit of painting time in.  Not as much as I had hoped (it's never as much as I hope ::(: ) but I did get some painting done.

Definitely some "proper" archetypal elves. Not the modern tropes that just look like Hollywood starlets with pointy ears grafted on. We need wild, dangerous beings that can enchant or kill you on a whim.

Use my Patriot 105 for the first time to day with Stylerez.  Very nice!  I am impressed as well.  I feel the need to prep a bunch of figures for priming now
