Nemesis Board Game

Update number 3 suggests they aren't aiming for too many miniatures in this game.

Makes sense.  What will be included seems more than enough in my eyes.

I'm still surprised at just how interesting this game seems to me, mist be my old Natural Selection (a game) days coming back ^_^ normally I'm not into horror or survival horror at all.

I enjoyed the gameplay put out by beastsofwar. If they are adding the expansions for a good price, I will stick with my pledge. ^.^

Looks like shipping to Canada is from Poland by boat with UPS. So... expensive shipping, 2 months later than the US, and brokerage fees highly likely. Yay.

A while ago

AR_Jordan Collaboratorposted on the KS page:We send to canada via postal services so backers can avoid UPS brokage fees, they will be shipped first in line with other economic shipping so they should arrive along last UPS packages as shipping will take 1-2 months

Showed the game to hubby, and he rather likes the idea, especially since it's semi-random and therefore each round should be different.

Haven't watched gameplay videos yet, but I like the concept, and especially the intruders..

Hmmm...I watched an hour of the BoW gameplay and was bored out of my mind.  Actually, that was what caused me to drop my pledge.

It got interesting around the 1h13min mark.  Only one of them made it out in the end.

Much as I find the game neat, I might be dropping my pledge simply due to the slow boat shipping alongside the cost.  Before shipping its already $180ish CAD, and I'd much rather spend that on painting supplies (and miniatures)

Yeah, I finished watching the BoW video finally.  It did get more interesting, but still just seemed sluggish and they always had the option to run away from the aliens.  That doesn't seem very cinematic.

I was kinda hoping this game would have multiple gameplay options like turning it into a bughunt besides the survival horror. Or different game types and plotlines for replayability. I mean if you have the minis why not put them to use. It's going to be boring playing the same "aliens! run and hide while doing a couple objectives" over and over again. There's a comic book with a story that seems choose your own adventureish and might be innovative, or might crash and burn. I'm still not seeing the value for the cost and the Carnomorphs add-on is half the price of the core game and no where near the content. I'll wait it out the next 10 days and see if it gets better before I back out. I need to make sure it's worth the $250-/+ its going to cost me. Probably better off waiting until it hits retail and goes on sale.

Whoa, that's ambitious.  They mention in the update that a polished comic takes a lot of money to produce- but do they know how much work they'll have to put in to learn to write a comic well?

I generally assume that game designers absolutely suck at fiction writing (and once in a while, I'm pleasantly surprised).  How was the writing in This War of Mine?

I hope they surprise me, but I'm definitely going into it with low expectations.

Not sure about the board game, but the video game of this war of mine had pretty good writing imo. A very good portrayal of survival and the gravity of any decision you take.

Many bakers (myself included) are currently receiving emails informing us that ...

Quote

The status of your order has changed.

Ready for shipping

Your order is in transit to shipping hub! We currently estimate shipping directly to you in November / December, depending on your shipping zone! Once it will ship to you, you will get status update with a tracking.

It's probably nothing much but it's a definite sign of progress.

Obviously I removed any sensitive details but it seems loads of the backers are all receiving the same email. It's a week or two earlier than the creator's estimates for the shipping crates to arrive at the various shipping hubs so many of us are feeling lucky. Or confused. Often a bit of both.

Well this morning at 5.33am UPS put my parcel on the van.

At 8.27am they turned the engine on and drove the van out the depot.

Then at 6.14 pm (PM!) they took it back to the depot and decided to deliver it tomorrow instead.

They're only about 15-20 miles away. Must be a very busy delivery driver.

It could be worse.

They could be DPD!

Not a happy bunny.

Box arrived here today in jolly old England. Everything seemed to be in order but I'll have to make a more detailed investigation. The bonus box included the comic (which I had not added so I'm a little confused there). No early bird freebie Medic but then she was an expansion so I imagine she'll be turning up some time next year.

I backed for just one shipping, and I'm told via email that they're going to deliver sometime today - I'm looking forward to it!

      About
Welcome to the Great Wall draft page – the campaign is not live yet, but we will be gradually adding more and more information about the game here! We are incredibly excited to hear your feedback, so please let us know what you think. If it looks interesting to you - make sure to click the "Notify me on launch" button!
The Great Wall is a new major board game from Awaken Realms (creators of Nemesis, Tainted Grail, Etherfields and many other acclaimed products). Players will take the roles of generals of an ancient oriental empire who lead the defence against ruthless hordes. You will need to gather allied advisors, manage your workers, recruit armies and, together with other players, raise and defend the Great Wall! As the game progresses, you will often need to co-operate or negotiate with other players, but make no mistake – there can be only one winner!
This fresh worker (and soldier!) placement game for 1-4 players faces them with many difficult choices and often pushes them to interact with each other. You will be assigning your workers to eleven different locations, such as Tea House, Quarry, Messenger Post, or Barracks, using special Command cards that have additional effects. Production in locations activates ONLY when all their slots are filled, but filling them all by yourself can result in a penalty. On top of that, players can buy overseers who will give additional output every time a location becomes activated. This creates a lot of involving long- and short-term strategies.
Each player starts with one unique General, characterized by their asymmetric power, as well as the production level. From there, you will further customize your economic engine and fine-tune your strategy by recruiting advisors who provide additional bonuses.
Eventually, a Wall Defence phase beings, where players place previously build armies on Horde Cards – earning Honor (Victory points) and looting resources from the defeated troops. This requires smart management of three types of units: Archers, Spearmen and Cavalry. Players place these soldiers one by one, playing the Tactics cards that create another layer of interaction.
Gain meditation by shooting with the Zen Archer, then spend meditation on a Cavalry Squad Leader to move your Cavalry around the battlefield faster, and – finally – finish off by getting extra Honor for each of the Cavalry’s engagements thanks to the Banner Holder. There are endless possibilities for great combos and memorable plays.
On top of that, your Advisors and General might give your troops extra abilities, such as shooting twice or looting twice the resources!
All of the above makes the Great Wall one of our most strategically involving designs that will be appreciated by many different groups of players: those who love euro-styled games with their intricate economies and engine-building, those who love over-the-table play, bargaining and negotiations – and finally, those who simply like to wage war on a beautiful map.

The only issue I have is the number of claims they are making. Not sure how many have actually been proven.

Thank you for checking out our project. After our first successful project we are back with the same great detailed miniatures but in the 28mm scale many of you wanted.
Made from injection moulded PVC we were incredibly happy with the quality of our previous models, the factory we worked with were very efficient allowing us to start to fulfil our Kickstarter a full two months early.
We worked hard to have our sculpts in place meaning as soon as we are successful we can spring into action and instruct the factory to start the process.
Core Box Alpha containing 2 large Animals (2inch base) and 6 medium Animals (1inch base) 28mm scale Models Hero Forge Models next to our Animal Miniatures Core Box Beta containing 2 large Animals (2inch base) and 6 medium Animals (1inch base) 28mm scale Models Hero Forge Models next to our Animal Miniatures Pledge for both to make a saving.
