Eberron Game! No Auld Grumpies Allowed!

Recommended Posts

So, I ask Grump to do some city geomorphs for the ruins.

He looks at me, and asks why not just use the Mordheim terrain?

... :blink::wacko:...

Because I didn't THINK of it, THAT'S why!

Wow, like total brain fart.

And I have an easier time making terrain than using CC3. (Dennis calls CC3 easy to use. Easy to use my BEEP!)

I am ordering more Dark Young tonight. :;,;:

And I am commandeering Grump's Shub Niggurath.

And I suddenly realized that I can use haunts and Black Tentacle spells to good nonlethal effect, with the flavor text of the tentacles reaching out of shadows, which means I need to order more tentacles too!

By suddenly I mean while I was typing!

Sooner or later the players will need to visit the plane of shadow, aren't they?

Don't forget to add another figure to throw Grump a red herring. ::P:

One of the things that has changed is I have a few dream sequences.

Prophetic nightmares where one or another non-warforged or non-elf can DIE, only to wake up covered in sweat as soon as they croak.

Which means I can use my Kaladrax!

Found out that night hags in Eberron are DIFFERENT.

A night hag oracle is going to be a background NPC - and NOT a bad guy! The sendings are WARNINGS, not THREATS.

Which does NOT mean that she won't be doing her best to scare the piddle into the PC's shoes.

Need a figure for her, too. The PCs will be meeting her, early on, but after the flashback. I am thinking Crippled for her flaw. In the dreams this will manifest as a chain around her leg.

Kaladrax may end up as a Ravager, with a kyton as her patron.

Bad guys with conflicting schemes, and the PCs as the ones in the middle.

Still need to write some Campaign Traits.

I am thinking Shell Shocked or Battle Fatigue will be good for veterans of the last war.

Would Lucid Dreaming be a good Trait? Giving the PC a WIL Save to realize when they are dreaming, and a chance to exert control?

Check the early Reaper figures for good hags - there are some nice ones. Also, even though they're a bit on the small side nowadays, Ral Partha has some nice ones as well.

If you're looking for cheap, the Bones Sea hag could work. maybe do a bit of resculpting on it to better fit the image of the character.

If PCs have the capability to change up your dream sequences, it could lead to unexpected consequences - possibly not even getting to the important part of the dream.

Starting on the second adventure - which involves a crashed airship in a dinosaur infested jungle.

This reminds me of the Wreck of the Star Goddess, from the Tomb of Annihilation D&D module. Not sure if you're taking inspiration, but maybe it can give you additional ideas?

I'm partial to http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/hag/latest/02678 for when a good hag is needed..

I was thinking about getting three figures for her, and maybe giving her the Seasonal template from Advanced Bestiary - Maiden, Mother, Crone.

Rhasia or the Darkmoor withch for Maiden, Greka for Crone, and a patchwork witch we have for the Mother - there being a shortage of pregnant witch figures.

That swamp hag would work good too, for the Crone.

I would like to see a horned hag, but no luck so far. Antlers would be even better. ::):

That would be kind of the point.

If they can interact with the dream, Shaelea can show them more, and I might be able to involve more than one player with the dream.

Maybe even get the players to find her, and free her from her chains.

That Witch of the Westmoreland song helps set the feel.

But in my head, I see her trying to "reward" Grump's warforged, and his character not being equipped to accept her reward. (Reward = Sleep With.)

I think Grump has three or four versions of that song.

Grump has seen one of the iron golems I am painting for the jungle adventure.

Half destroyed by time and rust.

Half blind.

The poisonous breath replaced with Stinking Cloud.

Scary for a 3rd level party, but not anywhere near as bad as a regular.

Julie submitted her character.

An elven White Necromancer. Fits the elves of this setting, good undead are kind of their thang.

Stealing a page from Grump's book. Players either use Point Buy,bor roll in front of me.

Julie went with Points, but plans to roll in front of me for the final version.

I am looking at a PDF temple for the adventure, not sure if for the first or the second part.

I need to tweak the second adventure. As it is they would be dead meat. ::(:

This small project is to fund a collection of little encounters that can be dropped into an existing adventure for low level adventurers.  I backed his previous project for alternate character backgrounds, and he delivered the PDFs early.

Here's some shots from the penultimate session of our D&D game.

The party finally confronts the Sewn Sisters.
The tiles are from "Dwarven Forge" and "Secret Weapon".  The tables, chairs, and most props are from "Mantic:Terrain Crate", with the cauldron being from an Old Glory Crones set.
The Scarecrow & Leomon (Half-Elf Paladin) are from "Reaper Bones".
The rest of the party are 3D prints, from HeroForge, Desktop Hero, and Miguel Zavala.
The Sewn Sisters are 3D prints from DarkRealms.
Everything was hand painted by myself.

      Cradle of the Death God.
      The tiles are Dwarven Forge.
The party are 3D prints, with designs from Hero Forge, Desktop Hero, and Miguel Zavala. (One is a Reaper Bones piece)
The Soulmonger is a 3D print designed by Miguel Zavala.  The God That Never Was is a 3D design by Duncan "Shadow" Louca.
Everything was painted by myself.  I also added LEDs.

      Hey everybody!

Tried to get the word out by word of mouth, and decided on here might be a good way to go about it as well. The tables for gaming had to be altered from what was on the printed schedule due to some logistics issues. (Logic?! At a con?! Say it isn't so.)

Games on GrowTix should reflect accurate locations (and hopefully always reflected accurate times). Also, there are printed schedules available on the table just beside registration. ALSO, ALSO, I attached the Xcel spreadsheet of the schedule if anyone wants to peruse.

Joseph Wolf's Dreadmere games are still at Table 1 - under the big Dredmere banner. Tables 2 ,3, and 10 are various Roleplaying games, as per the schedule Table 4 is an all-day, every-day Freeblades demo - drop by and check it out! Tables 6 thru 9 are for Gamers looking for Pathfinder/Starfinder D&D Adventure League is now tables 11 thru 23, but Gamers taking part in DDAL are encouraged to head to Table 18, where Colby (and crew) will be marshaling GMs, getting players into games, and generally just controlling the madness of League events. Tables 24 thru 28 are going to host Frog God Games (in the Arabian rooms) ReaperCon 2019 Gaming.xlsx

We're starting a new 5th Ed D&D campaign in a couple weeks.  I decided I might play a rogue, so I wandered down to the LFGS at lunch and looked at what was there (because I obviously have NO miniatures already I could use).
Spotted the Tabaxi Rogue female pack from WizKids (I like the sculpts and poses of the female figs more than the male ones) so that's going to be my next character.

Cool fig, primer isn't too bad.  Some nasty mold lines but I only have a week to paint this so I'm not messing with them.  Maybe after I'll clean up the "advanced" version and do a better job on her.

And after some time fiddling with colours.

Well, that looks a mess.  Just figuring out colours.
Skin base is MSP Alien Flesh.  Cloth is MSPB Succubus Kiss. Had AV Model Air Black handy so used that to start base coating metals.  And leather is MSP Leather Brown.  Still not sure on the leather but I'll give it some time to think about it and maybe try a wash on it.

The unpainted mini from the D&D Stranger Things Beginner set. The one they give you is more tan/taupe, and in the series it seems to be, but I went more green/olive.
