This will be mostly Oathmark Goblins but I've also got some of Tre's Bones orcs for the bigger warriors and also some Bones Ogres that will serves as trolls. By LotR inspired I mostly mean that they won't be bright green.
I've already painted some of GW's Fenrisian Wolves to be the Wargs.
The blond one and the little black one were inspired by my brother's dogs. My nephews totally missed the joke when they fought against these guys in our D&D game.
I'm trying to work out how to do the orcs skin. I'm trying to match the Green Ocher scheme I used on my 10mm orcs.
Second attempt was using Sepia liner as the shade color. It also has brighter highlights but the gloss sealer basically simulates that in the first photo.
I like Northstar's plastic fantasy figs because they have a Dark Age, Tolkienesque feel. I've decided to paint up my dwarves so that I can more easy justify buying the elves that are coming out soon.
So far I've put three shades of metalic paint all the minis but I'll be painting each unit of 6 or 12 on their own. First up are some speardwarves .
I'm thinking that the beards should lean towards blonde to complement the blue cloth. Maybe some pale yellow spear shafts? Oh, and I also need to order some transfers for their shields.
Eventually the whole army will all get some Polyshades brushed on to pick out the details.

I'm getting back to painting after a couple of weeks of unwanted break. I'm due to play some games today, so this late Saxon warlord was needed immediately. I got him done with my portable paint kit while sitting at the car dealer waiting on an oil change yesterday, and got the basing done when I got home.
The catalog picture shows him with a shield in the left hand. For whatever reason, I didn't get one when I bought him, and having one in his left hand looks very uncomfortable, on top of which it would interfere with use of the axe. So, I think I'm happier with him just shaking his fist at the foe.
