February 6:

What are your favorite dragons?

All Time: Smaug the Chiefest and Greatest of Calamities

Book: Pyrite from Dragons of Spring Dawning.

Movie: Smaug from Rankin and Bass The Hobbit 1977

Miniature: The dragon from The Bridge of Sorrows Partha/Ironwinds Diorama

Game System: I like the Basic D&D dragons. Not a ton of background or information on them, but they are hardcore killing machines. Like "Welp, time to                    roll a new character" since Basic only went to lvl 3 :).

Meh.  Dragons are ok, and there is some truly astonishing art out there but I'm not really "into" them to the point I keep track of which is which.  Julie Guthrie's Temple Dragon caught my eye and I had to have it in metal, most recently.

Shame there wasn't a bigger cat dragon.

           Game System:

All time: Dunkelzahn  (I probably misspelled that, it's been a long time)

Book: Smaug (though to be honest, I don't read a lot of books with dragons in them, more of a sci-fi guy)

Movie: King Ghidorah

Miniature: Lavarath (I've always like dragons with riders.  Dragonlance was my intro into D&D novels and it kind of stuck.)

Game system: Shadowrun dragons.  I just felt like they had more depth, more than just sentient apex predators

What are your favorite dragons?

All Time: Kazul, from the Enchanted Forest Chronicles, by Patricia C. Wrede.

Book: see, Dealing with Dragons was the first book without pictures I ever read. I loved Cimorene, I loved Kazul, I loved Morwen and all her cats. It was my first real introduction to fantasy literature, and I obviously got hooked.

Movie: I don't like the way most movies portray dragons, but I LOOOOOVED the furry dragon from the latest rendition of Pete's Dragon.

Miniature: ugh, I have to choose one? Blerg. Fine, Nethermaul, because of her art nouveau pose.

           Game System: ummmmmmmm mmmmmmm mmmmm......

amethyst dnd dragons. Because, amethyst.

What are your favorite dragons?

All Time: Tiamat/Takhisis and Smaug

Book: Elegon from Guardians of the Flame series by Joel Rosenberg (NSFW for gritty and mature themes)

Movie: Flight of Dragons

Miniature:  Ma'al Drakar, because they currently outnumber me

Game System: Sapphire dragons and, of course, prismatic dragons. Ferrous dragons also hold a special place in my heart

           All Time:

           Book:

           Movie:

           Miniature:

           Game System:

All Time:  Do I have to pick just one? Probably either Lofwyr or Smaug

Book: Honestly, haven't read too many books that featured dragons, so probably have to go with Smaug.

Movie: Not too many get them right, so again have to side with Smaug

Miniature: Sadly I have yet to paint one (guess I know what just got added to my 2018 goals). But I will go with Kaladryx

Game System: Two answers here. As part of overall game system -- Shadowrun. They're big, they're bad, they're powerful. Never make a deal with one. In terms of actually putting into a game as an opponent/npc? Gonna have to side with D&D in general. Lets face it, they're a core part of the game and are almost always a memorable encounter.

Hmmmm, All time: Probably Smaug or Tiamat

Book:  Gwenyth, the silver dragon from Legend of Huma. I read the Dragonlance books back in High school so these have sentimental value.

Movie: Vermithrax Pejorative (thou technically a wyvern but whatever.....) from Dragonslayer.

Miniature: So many wonderful sculpts. I love the new T'Raukzul, but I don't think I have a favorite one.

Game system: While I haven't ran many game sessions using dragons probably my favorite is  the black dragon from Pathfinder Basic Box adventure at ReaperCon. Nothing spectacular but Doc Bedlam gave me a doubloon (due to it was pirate theme that year)  that said "Free life!" so I figured what the hey. As the PCs fought & thought they struck the final blow, I threw down the coin & said a "Funny glow irradiates from the dragon & it rises up to face  you agai!!" I gave the dragon around 50% of his health. The look on the players was great that night!!

All time: Fizban/Paladine from Dragonlance. Ok that's kind of cheating because he's a god and we have no idea he's a dragon for the longest time. Honest answer not sure.

Book: Smaug. He's they epitome of what we think a dragon should be. Possibly the dragon from Dennis Mckiernan's Dragon Doom.

Movie: Probably Smaug or the one from Dragonheart.

Miniature: The Grenadier Guardian Dragon. First and for a very long time only dragon I owned. I still have him and sometimes consider repainting but he doesn't look bad as is for a 35 year old mini and paint job. Some one else's version.

Game system: No favourites. Most of the games I play they are just high level obstacles when I'd like to see them as super intelligent, conniving and the most powerful things around. But that doesn't work well in tabletop battles.

As I read this question not a single dragon name to mind.  That in and of itself shows what a lasting impression dragons have made on me.
