#1 No, Hadn't realised that it had already started. The wife likes to watch the opening and closing ceremonies so there's a chance we'll watch it yet if we can find a video somewhere.

Me neither...

I guess it was—will be on the NBC network. **Looks like it was—is more of a floorshow? than a parade.

Did you watch the Opening of the Winter Olympic Games?

February 10:

Do you plan on watching the Winter Games?

February 11:

What is your favorite winter sport?

Nope. We'll probably watch some of it. Even though Husband and I disagree on whether it's a "sport" or not it is ice skating.

Maybe.

But I guess all I have access to is kind of like a time-delayed highlight reel presentation.

I got to see snippets of the opening ceremony. The part where the two Korean kids got to climb the glowing staircase to the fire caldron was nifty.

I did, the repeat at least. I like watching this kind of cultural showcase. The parade was pretty standard, and their choice of music was unusual, from K-Pop to video game sounding music to traditional music. The highlight was Tongo's sexy shirtless oiled up flag bearer who took up cross-county skiing to be there.

Not really. Unless nothing else is on TV and it happens to be a final gold medal event.

Don't think I have one.

However if Canada's hockey team happens to reach the finals, I may get a surge of "patriotic duty" and watch the game (the time zone difference may be a hurdle). Though with Gary Bettman's decision to not allow NHL players to participate, it may not be as enthusiastic as in previous years.

I intended to watch part of the opening ceremonies, but I fell asleep.

I'll watch a bunch of the games, although my favorite is:

Figure skating, particularly ice dance, because it's the only one I can make any attempt at doing myself:

My son competed as a ice dancer from 2008 to 2012, getting as far as Nationals (as a novice team) that last year:

I was hoping that this would be the year that some of the kids he skated against would make the Olympics, but advancement in ice dance is so slow that all three dance teams on the US Olympic Team were already competing at the Senior level six years ago in 2012, so, if any are left, perhaps his cohorts may be part of the 2022 team.

Probably not. I can hardly be bothered to even turn the TV on.

None really.

Going with Bobsled.

(I generally like all the people versus the mountain events; not as much of a fan of the skaters versus the judges events.)

9: I didn't watch the opening. It was at 12 at noon and I was off doing other stuff.

10: Probably not as I'm not much into sports. I do follow the news a bit on how the Netherlands is doing in the Olympics though and if I'm zapping on TV and there's something like biathlon I'll probably keep watching.

11: To follow in the news it's definitely ice skating. Not that there's any choice on that when you're Dutch, lol. To watch, biathlon.

Oh, were those on...? I was killing monsters.

I might see them at work.

To watch? Probably curling. I used to like watching figure skating, but I hate hearing the commentary. I'd rather watch and listen to whatever music their show is set to.

Negative to all three, and let my example serve as warning to all parents out there.

It IS possible to give your non-sports-enthusiastic kid a lifelong aversion to sports in general by having a game/fight/match/tournament/etc. going at all times on every television in the house until he is old enough to move out.

Moderation: think about it, won't you?

His father is why my hubby can not stand baseball.

2/9:  Nope.

2/10:  Nope.  Sadly, I don't have a  TV, and I'm really simply disinterested this year.  I can say I am pleased that the IOC did stand its ground with Russia regarding the sanctions and state-sponsored doping.

2/11:  Hockey.  Although the NHL's shenanigans this year regarding the winter olympics really bothers me.  I enjoy figure skating and speed skating, too.
