Do you play any sports, if so what?

I am a very casual sports fan. Baseball would probably be my favourite sport to watch; I cheer for the Toronto Blue Jays.

I will also watch a bit of EPL, if I don't sleep in on the weekend; I cheer for Manchester City (my great grandfather's home team).

I don't typically play sports anymore, although I used to play Basketball when I was younger.

I used to enjoy baseball and followed the Giants prior to Barry Bonds and followed the Niners when they had Jerry Rice and Joe Montana.

Participated in baseball, football, and badminton until high school and wushu until college. Recently i was into indoor rock climbing, but membership fees increased and its kind of difficult to justify those costs.

Closest I know is uncles repeating the belief that how high above ground a hornet's nest is, the more snow you'd get next winter. [Ignore the fact that, save for future queens, hornets die before winter begins.]

Normally no, I don't follow any specific sport, nor practice any one in particular.

Sure, during Super Bowl weekend, or the Olympics, I give the events a bit more attention, but that's about it.

Watch/Follow: NFL, NBA, college football

I used to play football (strong safety and fullback) and soccer (fullback), though neither at an organized level outside of public school, so that era passed several years ago.

Watch/follow: My son was a competitive ice dancer until he retired in 2012 (??!), so I keep an eye on US figure skating, but I have a hard time calling any of the judged sports "sports"...

Play any: In the sense of competing to win, no.  I like some athletic activities (figure skating, bicycling) that are competed, but that's not why I do them.

What was the most difficult technique you have ever attempted on a mini and how did it turn out?

I think it's freehand. Sometimes my hand wobbles, and getting both my hands be stable enough to do the detail work is difficult for me. Other stuff, like blending, OSL, and various annoying colours are a matter of practice. Wobbly hands are, apparently, forever -.-

Oh, the second part... I've been fairly successful. Hubby has a character who has a cloak with the sun setting on an icy tundra, which I painted up with some success. He likes to show it to people as proof of my talents

OSL, tried it once on the Freebooter's Servant who carried candles on his back.

It turned out ok, not spectacular but ok.

Layering definitely comes to mind.  I'd say the biggest one that comes to mind right afterwards is not obscuring details by putting too much paint on...

But yeah, layering is definitely something I want to work on more ^_^

OSL. I can make it look reasonable, but not really convincing like other people do. I always find myself thinking: "OK, so that bloke is carrying a torch, but why is his face yellow?"

Do you read any web-comics?  If so, which ones and why do you like them (please provide links if they are SFW and do not have commerce issues)?

I have a LONG list of webcomics, but my current "MUST READ" list is:

Girl Genius, as others have mentioned,

Kill Six Billion Demons (great world building)

Between Failures

Something Positive

Kiwi Blitz

Trying Human

Order of the Stick

Defunct, but fun to reread

Zap in Space

Dominic Deegan, Oracle for Hire

Alice Grove

This, this made me so happy to read.  Thank you, kind sir.

I have my "get well" tea.  It is "southern mint" tea that I mix with licorice root.  Steep for 10-15 minutes and it gets a nice minty flavor that covers for the licorice, but it helps to make sore throats go away and keeps your stomach from feeling wobbly.  Works wonders and it was the only thing my kids would drink when they had the flu (the one the flu shot DIDN'T cover this year) back in November.

Watch:

MLB Baseball:  Cubs fan since birth.

NHL Hockey:  New York Rangers fan since 1992.

NFL Football:  New England Patriots fan since 1994.

I follow everything very lightly, and, if my teams are on, I watch, if not, I could care less.  If I find a free streaming channel with them, I'll listen while I paint.

Reason for the latter two teams:

I am not an overly masculine male.  My father, a NAVY man, made me pick teams, somehow that would make me more masculine?  (Years later he has apologized)  I am an artsy type.  I picked my teams based on colors.  And, you guessed it, I made them ALL match the Chicago Cubs, whom I really enjoyed watching.  To give my vintage there, I remember watching a Cubs game at Wrigley when Greg Maddox was pitching, Andre Dawson was in Right Field, and we won (a rarity those days).

Fingerpainting OSL...

Yes, I just typed those words. It was the first fingerpainting challenge here on the boards way back when. And my first ever attempt at serious OSL.

Considering the limitations of the challenge, it didn't turn out terrible.
