Hmm... @pcktlnt , is there a group paint in our box?

Also @Chaoswolf thanks for putting me at the end of the circuit!

I really appreciate it. ::D:

Why yes. I put in a mule or donkey in the box. Simple mini for those that have the time to add colors. ^.^

 So, guys, paint or no paint?  I'll try to dig up something interesting for us.

I feel funny putting paint on someone else’s work. I do so much with layers and washes and thin adjustments of color it would probably annoy anyone else working on the figure.

I picked through the Marvin/Inarah box and I have pictures! That box is really full to bursting!

Spoiler

Bones selections

Basing stuff (including turf I was about to buy for my Secret Sophie project)

Another unidentified metal lady. I was hemming and hawing on this one because I don't want to paint her, but she has a ton of character. I decided that I like her so much as she is that I'm just going to put her on my desk

This was my first ever Box of Goodwill, and it was very fun digging through everything for buried treasure, so to speak, so thank you so much to everyone who's contributed so far :) Having this arrive definitely brightened up a less than nice week. I've got the box packed up again with my contributions, and I'll have it moving again as soon as I can get it to the post office!

Do you folks want to do a group paint figure?

I don't mind.  Not sure I have ever done it in the past and even if I don't get a chance this time I can always let the little one add some color to it.  She would probably get a kick out of that now that she does more painting than I do. :)

I got so much on my painting plate right now so I would pass on the group paint.  Sorry

I think I would pass on a group paint, this being my first BoGW

Not much needed for the group paints though.  Just grab it and find a spot to add a little color then pass it on.

I'm not sure I've ever seen an expensive taklon brush. Kolinsky sables, now.. those will put you back a chunk.

I am, however, now somewhat reluctant to look these magical files up; not sure I want to know. ^^;

Brain is thinking Kolinsky Sable but then instructing fingers to type taklon.:down:

Life can be "interesting" when you have a brain that doesn't always function according to the design specifications.:wacko:

I can put paint on whatever is presented.

No warranties or representations as to how well my painting skills measure up.

Since I'm downstream from you I would value being able to study your technique "up close and personal".

Oh, you have one of those too? Mine's verbal. :/

The notion of a thing that is to be painted is fun, kind of; might be fun to see what everyone else did by the time it gets down to me. ^^;

  That's Grenadier - the Action Art 8001 Explorers box set "torchbearer"...

She's an old-school lead figure .

G-albs-8001d.jpg

And she's missing her torch....

Which, interestingly, seems to have found it's way into the Guindyloo box somehow... lol

If you'd like her torch and have the ability to pin it back on, just shoot me a PM with your address and I'll mail it to you.

I thought it was a cup too, like one of those cattle-horn things.

 (Okay, how the hell do I do the mention things so the names come up red?)

Anyway...

 Okay folks in the Guindyloo box...

 I've decided to toss a group paint figure in the box... It's the Bones 01005: Undead Outlaw.  It's got enough sections on it for each of us to jump in and do something, yet simple enough that if nobody chooses to jump in on it it won't take much for someone to finish.

Pingo, you're going to be the first one in line to put paint on it if you want.

On a pair of different matters...

It appears that we've lost the journal that was previously with the box, so Guindy has started a new one. Since none of the stuff in the box is currently identified, rather than writing in what I took and what I put in, I'll just make a list of the contents current to when I sent it out...

Also, RE: the "preponderance of lead" in the box...

There are around 40 lead figures in the box, plus about half of a dragon. It was all packed very loosely in plastic clamshell blisters, and two of the blisters didn't contain any lead figures at all (one is full of metal and plastic bits), so it looked like there was more of it than there was.

I removed a couple of figures that were simply mashed beyond all recognition or hope of repair.

 I'm looking to have the box out by Friday.

      Ok, here are the rules:
      1) Please don't sign up if you were there, or if you had someone get you stuff from the con. This is supposed to be for people who weren't there. No, I'm not going to check, but the gods will know, and they will visit a terrible vengeance upon you.

      2) Unlike the regular version of the BoGW that you may be familiar with, you don't need to match anything you take. All of this stuff was donated by people to allow other people to get some cool stuff. So, take whatever you want (but see below).

      3) No sharing your picks. If it works out that everyone involved gets to pick 3 figures but you only want 2, you can't pass that extra figure choice down the line to someone else. Everyone gets to have the same amount of stuff, unless someone chooses to take less. If there's stuff left over, send it back to me and it'll get folded into the next regular Box of Goodwill. (Exact number of choices will be based on the amount of people signing up)

      Most of the stuff this time around is metal and resin miniatures. There are no Bones (I did receive a few of the monthly Bones giveaway figure, but they're all the same figure, and I was probably only going to throw in a few to round out numbers if it becomes necessary, otherwise, I was going to put them in the regular BoGW). There are a few non-miniature items, such as bags, dice, etc. There are not enough of these items to go around, so if you want a bag, for example, that counts as one of your picks.

      Any other questions, please let me know.

      Would there be interest in/support for doing this again this year?

      This is the basic idea behind it for those not familiar:

      The past couple Reapercons that I've been at, I have noticed a fair amount of swag bag/con exclusive figures that people didn't want getting tossed onto the melt table and/or left laying around.
      I had the idea of collecting all the unwanted stuff, putting it in a box and shipping it around to folks who couldn't get to the 'con so that they could sort of 'be there, too'.

      Unlike the regular BoGW, people donating wouldn't get anything out of the box, they would just be 'throwing away' the stuff they don't want in a slightly different direction. Maybe there would be a ribbon involved, maybe it might just be the thanks of people who will benefit done the line.
