ObviousBadGuy
Hello everyone! I'm new (to the forum and painting) and I thought the best way to introduce myself was with a figure. This is my second figure I've painted and thought it was pretty decent. I would love to hear what you think. P.s sorry for the horrible camera quality and background. I'll work on that.
dice4hire
Looks good. Nice color choices help mesh it all together.
Glitterwolf
Welcome to the Forum! A nice first mini! When you look at the Painting and Advice thread, you will learn a lot of tricks and tips that can help you. Also look at youtube vids, search for painting fantasy miniatures. It all depends what you like to achieve. Some of us paint for games and a quick job is all they need while others paint for display or even competions. There is no wrong way! What matters is that you have fun! Depending on your goals. Highlight more, deeper shadows. As for the background. I have printed out some neutral and some scenic pictures from the internet and use those. It doesn't have to be expensive. in the Shutterbug thread you can find tips and tricks for taking pics of your minis. One more thing, if you see purple text on this forum, it is meant as a joke. HAVE FUN! And keep posting minis. Maybe post a WIP ( Work in Progress) people will give advice and follow this.
Pochi
You have good brush control and that red really pops! I love how on your second mini, you did lipstick and got whites in the eyes and the eyes don't look all sloppy. Good job! Welcome to the forums! I seriously think this is the friendliest place on the internet. Check out the Inspiration Gallery, the Show Off threads, and the WIP threads. Great way to be inspired and learn. Thanks for sharing your mini!
Sergeant_Crunch
Off to a good start! The only question you ever need to ask yourself is, "Do I like this" when it comes to your painting. If you're looking for more resources, on the main Reaper page there is a section called "The Craft" that has a bunch of articles on various topics related to miniatures.
Schirf
Great Job and welcome! You'll find a ton of friendly people here with lots of good advice if you poke around. And like Glitterwolf already said, if you head to the Shutterbug section there are some thread with like to backgrounds you can download ( http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/56921-backdrops/ ). Makes a huge difference in how your figures photograph and makes things easier to see. (I just found this out myself this last weekend)

VolksFest
The best advice is already given.. So I'll rather just say that you have indeed come to the right place. This is THE friendliest and the most positively encouraging forum on the whole internet! And you are onto a very good start, not only because you have found the gateway to awesomeness but also because you have great brush control, something most of us still struggle with.. My first minis were never near that kind of level.. So, the good news is that, the only thing you need to do in order to improve is to paint, come here and present, listen to advice, improve one little thing (if possible) and paint again .. Rince and repeat. The more you paint the more you will improve.. This is the great part of this hobby.. Welcome on board, enjoy the ride!

ObviousBadGuy
I'm not sure how to reply to people yet so this is for everyone. Thank you for all the advice and kind words. I will definitely follow all your advice. I'm actually work on something right now that I was going to post on WIP (once I get a background of course). I'm looking forward to posting and painting more (Especially since my Bone Slyvanians are arriving today). Anyway thanks to everyone!

In the end you can then press the # quotes symbol at the bottom of the screen and answer all those post in one go. If you just press quote ( no plus) you will answer one post.

I have learned a lot of things from a lot of people here, as well as gained some inspiration for some paint jobs. Its already been said but a good place to start improving your game is learning shading and highlighting.
