The only thing I ever did remotely similar to this was being part of a Call of Duty Clan, wiping out our enemies online together.

 

Dunno if it is a funny story, but I was also given mod rights.

And at one time a girl joined the fight.

She used her real first name and of course a lot of the adolescent boys found it necessary to start making "remarks""

 

I knew the girl was only like 12 or so and I thought it was cool she joined a game like this, but these creeps kept harassing her.

So I gave a warning, at which point I was told to F off.. I started banning players and it calmed down all of a sudden.

Later that night her mother came online to thank me for it.

 

So...if anyone wonders why girls don't play these kind of games?

It's because of this behaviour.

 

Oh..and she was pretty good at it...most remarks were made out of spite I guess.

I ran an official Adventure League table for a while when 5e first came out. It was... okay, but I felt too constrained by the adventure, which was not well structured or written.

I've been part of online guilds (or whatever they're called in particular games) that were pretty organized. They were too strict for me about having to play X amount of hours and participate in X number of activities. Games are not more important than college or jobs.

Blood Bowl League play, Warhammer Skirmish league play (with accompanying maps too!), and then of course the "obligatory" guilds and clans in MMO's and FPS games respectively...  Although with gaming, I'm not really part of any guilds or clans at this time, since I'm not playing MMO's or FPS games all that much these days - I'll occasionally log onto Guild Wars II, if anything..  Shooters are pretty much never unless I'm playing Borderlands II or Pre-Sequel, and it's single player at that.  Guilds we've created (hubby and I) that are just us don't really count

 

I do miss the league war games stuff though, that was actually pretty fun, doubly so because orcs are awesome.  Yes, I'll admit it - before I became all gung ho about the Skaven for fantasy and the Catachans for 40k I was alllllllll about the orks.  I really should work on bulking that army up, and of course start a 40k space ork army because orks are awesome.

 No, I would have like to try anything of this nature, but going to sea for months on end make me a liability to all leagues, guilds and so forth.

No...I have always been more into the miniatures & the scenery than the game.

Tried PFS at PaizoCon one year and wasn't impressed. Especially since there is nothing local.

I tried Adventure League just after 5th Edition was released.  Attended the initial 'here's how things go' session, and one actual play session.  Decided I didn't like playing with random people, so never went back.

I have played a couple of games of Pathfinder Society (PFS). and a whole lot of Adventure League.  Of the two, I seem to prefer Adventure League, but that could just be because that is what is predominately available.  I used AL as a way to get back into playing in a regular weekly game, and then ended up DM-ing a table myself for a couple of months.  Then I switched stores and ended up as a player again (although I did fill in and DM an adventure during a period where we knew part of the group would be unavailable; let the DM play for a chance).

 

I just went to a local con this past weekend (TotalCon in Mass), where I played AL all weekend.  This was interesting as in store, I've been playing with the same group of people for the last six months or so, and at the con the player base was more random (although we did end up with one table that was entirely made up of regular from my FLGS).  Most of the players I was matched with were great; only one or two had any issues (a 10-12 year old boy only started playing that weekend and was indecisive during his turn; I'm chalking it up to inexperience).  I also had some great DMs, who I will shamelessly be stealing ideas from.

 

A group of people spanning a couple of stores have also created a Living Campaign spanning a couple of Conventions and Stores.  I've played a one and a half games (they had a player have to leave the game halfway though and I jumped in) and I'm interested in see where it goes.

 

I like the fact that with PFS and AL, you don't have to commit to a whole campaign (though it helps, especially if you are doing a hardcover adventure or an Adventure Path); you can just show up when it suits your schedule and play if they have a spot open for an adventure suitable for the level of character you bring.

Only at conventions, and it has been kind of mixed. 

 

I tried pathfinder society during captain con this year, and that was a mess. GM didn't read or prepare the module (we be goblins) where as one of the other players clearly had and was rules lawyering and meta gaming the thing as hard as possible. 3 hours wasted.

 

Shadowrun missions has been kind of great so far. Only one bad table out of 20 or so missions. 

 

Funny story, we accidentally broke a module, because the writers never considered that the party might take all their grenades and strap them to a mct 7 and send crawling through the vents to fall on/explode the entire security team before they act. No one even saw the party that mission. Clearly exploding ghosts robbed the place.

I was a member of a raiding alliance (and was one when I played WoW.  Does that count?

 

I have very rarely toyed with the idea of getting into Warmachine, with the aim of playing in some local tournaments, but my friend, who plays, says I don't really have the time for it.  And he's probably right.

Never really interested me.  I like playing with the same people for long periods of time on long story arcs.  The drop in/drop out nature of most organized RPG play just doesn't appeal to me.  But I did try as a GM with Traveller when Mongoose first released their edition.   Life and the fact that Mongoose support for it waned stopped that. 

I feel that miniatures games are better suited for players dropping in/out.
