Marching On: March 2018 Goals

It’s the 1st, and time for more goals...

 

I want to:

 

finish my six Sleestaks

paint a couple of vintage Tolkien units

get some project planning on paper

play some games

Try to work on the garage kit.

 

First though, finish cleaning the paint area.  I started last night but it needs a bit more work.

March:

• Take photos and post a show off of my Minivember minis (I'm way behind on this)
• Finish putting all my paints in the paint swatch journal
• Find more paint storage
• Paint some things (not sure what yet)

Finish the pathfinder goblins, paint some elves and maybe make terrain. Didn't get as much painting time in February as I thought I would and don't know if March will be better. No set numbers this time just do what I can, when I can.

Goals:

With contest out of the way (I may or may not enter this month's contest):

I am painting Big C'Thulu.

I am painting some bandits.

I am painting various human-ish-sized models. 

I am putting together Super Dungeon Explore (original)

I am putting together and priming a bunch of Skorne. 

 

There are HUNDREDS of other models in the queue, but I'm very happy with the selection.  It's the year of the monster for me.

So for the month of March in keeping with my 2018 goals I plan to:

• Paint a character figure for the Dark Conspiracy game
• Paint an NPC figure for the Dark Conspiracy game
• Paint two figures for Frostgrave
• Paint a Hasslefree character figure
• Paint a Bear's Head character mini if I get it in time
• Paint another Mithril miniature

That is kind of a lot. But March, April and May need to be a lot so I can slack off in the Summer.

My 2018 hobby goals include:

• Running a Dark Conspiracy RPG for my gaming group
• Running a Frostgrave/Ghost Arch game at Reapercon in September
• Painting the 10 miniatures from the hasslefree kickstarter
• Painting the 6 miniatures from the Going Native kickstarter
• Painting the 5 miniatures from the Bear's Head kickstarter (on track with one)
• Continue painting the Monthly Mithril Miniatures (On track with three)
• Reduce and limit the WIP box (formerly the shelf o' shame) to 6 figures. It currently sits at 12

I managed to get more than a dozen miniatures off of my shelf of shame in a painted and based state, so I am going to keep pushing ahead and try to get them all done.  I want to finish at least half of the following miniatures in March, and the remainder in April.

I hope to finish Mal in March, though my week of vacation i had planned because work was slowing down is not happening, because of course project is still going full bore.

my goals for March are:

 

a) finish my UTF Cav force only 9 Cavs, 8 vehicles, 1 aircraft & 48 infantry to do (and update my thread)

 

b) continue to do my 15mm Neo-soviet force at least get 4 more vehicles done (and update my thread)

 

c) finish off the 4 10mm damaged buildings I'm working on (and update my thread)

 

possible other bits I might try & get in

 

d) finish some 15mm squid men cultist that I've undercoated ages ago

 

e) get  a few more bretonnians done this time some spearmen & Halberdiers, undercoated just need to start them

 

f) start my Warzone Dark Eden force off & maybe some more cybertronic these are the old Metal ones not the newer plastic ones.

 

All depends of what mood I'm in to which project gets some done to it. Its been helpful starting threads for my projects been testing myself to see if I can get more stuff done if I share it with others.

From Feb...

• Decide on a colour scheme for my Catachans, clean up at least ten of them, and then get started on their painting
• Clean up a squad of 10 8 Tau Fire Warriors and finalize their initial painting
• Finish that lost model from the Layer Up! LTPK
• Create an inventory spreadsheet of my various miniatures so I can track what I have and all that
• Paint (or hobby) every day!
• Assemble the remainder of my pewter Skaven from the 25th anniversary boxed army
• Organize bits boxes

For 2018...

• Pick up some CAV miniatures
• Pick up some Heavy Gear miniatures
• Order... stuff from Secret Weapon (I'm really wanting the washes, weather acrylics, pigments, and some more bases!)

For March!

• Start converting bases for my Catachans from basic GW ones to stamped ones.  Goal I'm shooting for is 6x 60mm, and 10x 25mm
• Convert a unit of my Tau to stamped bases (Goal: 8)
• Assemble the remainder of my Rat Ogres, and Rebase them onto circular bases
• Convert at least one of my Skaven units over to 25mm circular bases (Goal: 20)
• Finalize how I'll be setting up Wyrmgear's wings, pin them in place, and then greenstuff the various things (rebuild certain parts, seal gaps, etc)
• Start painting at least one of the minis in my Furiously Fluffy Howling Hounds army
• Assemble a good portion of the miniatures I've picked up for my FFHH army
• Get base coats for my rainbow dragon done, including planning of secondary and highlight colour locations (Ebonwrath)
• Obviously get my March 2018 order in with Reaper >.>;;;;

That seems like about it, at least for now.  Might add more later!

One task done and even played a game of it.  Total time putting the game together was about 6 hours.  Eek for a board game.  Okay for a game I intend on painting.  Not primed, but a fun game to play with the kiddos, played with as young as 6 and they understood just fine.

 

Painting desk: 

3 Bandits, 5 Derro, 1 Tiefling, and C'thulu.

 

Current Skorne progress:  together:  Titan Glad, Bronzeback titan, Cyclops Shaman, Cyclops Brute, 2 Cyclops with swords (can't recall their name), pMorghoul.

To do:  More elephant critters!  More units!  Molik Karn!

I've added some things but they're really just add-ons to the last bit. I'm making a Mini Ma'al and painting Isabeau Laroche up as Captain Marvel. Though I need more paint for both for which I will need to find storage...

I haven't touched a brush or mini all of March. Walked by them 2 or 3 times is the closest I've gotten. Things got busy on me and I haven't had energy in the evenings. Hoping to do something later today.

Break the inertia!  Set your alarm to get up 10 minutes early.  Paint the eyes on any miniature you have laying around as soon as you get up.  Or ask someone to pick any incomplete miniature on your shelf and force yourself to add one layer of highlight to the main colour.  You can do it!
