02181: Sirithis, Succubus

Recommended Posts

Another older sculpt I wanted to knock out real quick, this was maybe three hours’ work (not counting stepping away to let paint dry, etc.). To be honest, it looked amazing when everything was just a basecoat, it’s the parts after that that throw me. Anyway, Sirithis (links for nudity):

Still haven’t found a nipple color that works. The search continues. Comments and critiques welcome.

Looks good!

As for the nipple colour.

I mix Reaper Rosy Skin with a small touch of Reaper Clotted Red.

You can see the result on Kyra the Barbarian Queen Bust or my WIP for Anne Bonnie Pirate Queen.

For nipple color, depending on skin tone, I mix the color into usually my midtone flesh color. For caucasion, I use a dark pink and a little tan with my skin color. For dark skin, I use a dark red and a touch of purple with some of my shadow color mixed with my midtone skin color. Keeping the skin color in there helps it seem more natural in my opinion.

I really like the reds you chose for the skirt and wings!

Echoing what Pochi said, use a midtone or darker skin color for the nipples. You could also use either the brown or red from the wings, mixed with her flesh tone, for that.  It would also work well for a natural lip color.

Thanks for the tips, everyone. I’ll have to experiment some next time. Anyway, in this case I used a mix of BCA Pink and Tanned Skin (which was darker than my midtown). Unfortunately, BCA Pink  looks suspiciously like Pepto-Bismol, and my mix ended up looking like Pepto-Bismol with some tan paint mixed in it <_<

Also, my mini seemed to be lacking a sculpted nipple, which threw things off.

As for the skirt and wings, both are MSP Blood Red, with a drop of Tanned Highlight added to the wings. Added a thin layer of GW Agrax Earthshade (was in a hurry and don’t care about cheating) and some Candlelight Yellow for highlighting and that’s that.

It’s not going to win any awards, but looks very nice for tabletop.

Vandorendra Demon by Reaper Miniatures (02633).

This is a bit of an historical work.  I actually painted this over 10 years ago, and rediscovered it whilst looking through one of my old online galleries.  Being a Reaper mini and somthing I was very proud of at the time, I figured I would upload it here.  It was one of the very last mini's I painted before selling off all my paints and and modelling supplies and quitting the hobby (I got back into it recently as a result of the Covid19 lockdown, and I cant for the life of me imagine what ever possessed me to stop).

Anyway, I absolutely love this sculpt, as it reminds me of a D&D Marilith and I have a soft spot for iconic D&D beasties.

This one was for a facebook competition about color. The rules were, basically, don't worry about anything else but color. Do something different with color. I started with the idea of a dress palette of blue, teal, purple, and magenta. Once I had those colors in place, it was a matter of incorporating them in different areas of the model. I went with cotton candy roses and a galaxy print on the wings. The galaxy was a matter of stippling the dress colors (plus a bit of white) back and forth until the effect was convincing. Then I masked the body of the model and flicked a stiff brush at the wings to make star patterns. I then went back to the dress colors and stippling to blend them in a bit. This was a blast to paint, because I've never really done anything like this before.

Hi guys.  Here is my painted Bones Succubus.  Parts of her are a hot mess but I am so happy with her!!  I pushed through sone issues I was having and there are so many spots I learned on her.  For starters she has the first makeup I ever put on a mini.  She has eyeshadow, blush, lipstick complete with little white light dot on her lower lip for fun and a beauty mark!  I started with slightly less pronounced makeup but then she's a succubus, she would have exaggerated makeup I think.  The unfortunate thing about her is her right cheek has quite an indent and then a mold line a little past that.  I disguised the mold line by giving her a "lady sideburn" to match the one sculpted on the other side but there's nothing I can do about the indent.  Then her wings, for the first time I was able to get more of a variation in the colouring which I tried with my bat demon and ended up covering because I didn't like it.  Her dress could have used a bit more but I was done and I'm still working on the layering/highlighting in general.  One thing that still bothers me is the rough look of my paint jobs when I'm done.  I paint with a wet palette so thinning isn't an issue I don't think and don't put coats on top of drying paints so that's not causing it.  Hope everyone likes her as much as I do.  I even have a second copy of her to do later in my painting journey.
