Won't lie, haven't gotten much in the way of painting done in the past week...  In fact, today's the first day in over a week I've painted.  World doesn't end, just means some of my plans take a tad longer, that's all. ^_^

Today's paints: 9065 Grey Liner, 9064 Brown Liner.

For now, just the one pic, mainly because it's showcasing that three more poison wind globadiers have received the grey liner treatment, and five of my Night Runners have received the brown liner treatment.  I'm somewhat undecided as to which I prefer, but I suspect it will be a usage case kind of basis in the long run.  Either that or I need to let everything fully dry, that would probably help too!

I suspect next up will be robes/cloth/pants/etc, where I'll be giving that old Citadel foundation paint a go again, as this time I'm going to try a few different techniques and see what plays out.

Oh, and as for the dark fronts the minis have, that isn't the camera's fault, that's mine - I left my lights in their "default" orientation, aka top down which I use for painting, I didn't change it for the photos, oops.

Wheee, getting back into the vibe of things...  And also kind of hoping to finish off a few of these guys this month.  I have a week to go, let's see how that pans out ^_^

Today's music: Blackout Music NL Podcost #73

Today's paints:

9286 Punk Rock Pink

9462 Succubus Kiss

Yup, just two, I know, I know, who am I, and who do I think I'm fooling using just two paint bottles when I kind of have a habit of having like... a dozen out at once.

Apologies for the constantly changing exposure, for some reason today my phone reaaally didn't want to cooperate.

Poison Wind Globadier x2.  One of the left (or top, depending on screen resolution) had the highlights that I felt were completely overdone, and so....  A few layers later, they're mostly gone.  I'm thinking of various ways I can still get that little highlight, but without sixteen billion layers.

^Aaaand we have the Master Moulder from the Island of Blood starter set FINALLY seeing colour.  I'd say I'm bending the rules on the RPChallenge bonus challenge, but technically he has been sitting around for several months after having been based and linered, so I'll be working on him as one of the four "shrink the shelf of shame" challenge....  Even if I don't have a shelf.  He's been hanging out by my turntables the entire time.

Red seems to be the main colour I've gone with for the cloth in my army...  So it's pink...ish... Sort of.  Not really.  Are you going to argue with someone that's got a warpstone powered pokey stabby zappy thing?  ::P:

Gawds it's nice to be working on these guys again.  Don't get me wrong, various other minis are fun and all, but... I have a special place in my heart for the murderous buggers known as the Skaven!

Glad to see you back at this project. Watching your progress on your Skaven makes me wish I could drop my current projects and finally get around to painting mine. Oh well, guess I'll just keep grabbing ideas from your Skaven instead.

And I wish I had the same kind of drive that you do with your Cadians, but with my Catachans ^_^  One of these days, they'll actually see paint!  I would start the Catachans, but with several projects already on the table (CAV, Tanith (plus more Hordes stuff to assemble still), Furiously Fluffy Howling Hounds, and Ebonwrath) and my goal being to actually have somewhat less on the table so it's tidier...  It's that lovely balancing act kind of thing ^_^;;;  Catachans will probably happen after the Skaven though!

Definitely happy about working on them again, because so many of the models have this neat personality about them!

I wouldn't feel too bad about your Catachans, they take a lot of time to paint even a single model. The basic Cadian color scheme is very easy but the basic Catachan scheme is pretty complex. That's not even mentioning how much more exposed skin you have to paint with them too.

Yeaaah, skin is the big thing I've found out...   camo pattern shouldn't be too too hard though, since I'll be going with a night/city camo kind of scheme.  Now it's just a case of figuring out whether digital or traditional...

And as for the Skaven, deciding if I'm getting those war machines or not.  I know the Doomwheel is happening for sure... It's one of those "huh, those things add up pretty quickly...." scenarios.

Aaaand we're back with the Master Moulder!  Today felt like a metallics kind of day, and apparently he's addicted to shiny.  Even more than I am....

IMG_20190222_231013.thumb.jpg.3e25508d92dc3275dfe8fd7c2d075392.jpgIMG_20190222_230956.thumb.jpg.570c014acf7e606a258c788099a96cc5.jpg

Paints used today.  Well, just one actually.  9451 Dwarven Bronze.  Oh, and thinner medium on the second, or was it third coat?  Either way, OMG.  Love that stuff at first drop.  I sound like an addict.  Maybe I should buy more metallic paints.... ::P:  Unsurprisingly, once it was on the palette (and doubly so once it was on his staff), uhm, uhhh...  Yeah, I think it's quickly taken over as my favourite metallic colour from Reaper that I own...

Obviously, it won't stay that colour for long, as it isn't anywhere near gritty enough for someone dealing with, y'know, making mutant GIANT RATS OF DOOM, but I seem to work better by slowly blocking things in, and going from there.  Still debating if it will be the more "traditional" kind of colour for warpstone (dark green with highlights!), or if I'm going to go with more of a bloodstone kind of look.  Bloodstone is a gorgeous stone, at least to me.  It doesn't have crystals, or fancy layers, just... LOOK AT ME...  Oh wait, it does kind of have layers, but not like sandstone type layers (or tigerseye!), but I digress.  I'm tired, insanely sore (knees are royally acting up), but glad to have gotten some painting in tonight ^_^

Today's music was, uhm.... Uhhh....  Some mix of Blackout Music NL's podcasts as well as Traxxtorm's Hardcore Italia podcasts - I wasn't very specific about which ones I was running, but couldn't quite get the mood right.  Post was done to Night Club's "Candy Coated Suicide".  I bet a certain wolf is hoping my inspiration will be Megadeth or something of that effect.  I've been tempted by Rust in Peace, it just hasn't hit me.  The mood that is.  Good album though!

....*Googles raw bloodstone* Okay, it's going to be that.  So going to be that.  Kind of actually even more gorgeous in it's raw form over polished....

Hmmmm...  Not quite sure so far of tonight's efforts.  I didn't quite seem to get mixes how I wanted, or maybe it wasn't quite what I was aiming for.  We'll see how additional layers go. ^_^;;;;

Paint used: 9430 Polished Leather

IMG_20190224_224746.thumb.jpg.3e18d33a231173e670cb7d7dbf174810.jpgIMG_20190224_224817.thumb.jpg.5c44aa76683d536bbea7af8d2ba2f661.jpg

Tonight's goal was to have most of the fur blocked in, and... I dunno.  It does sort of scream Clan Pestilens, but at the same time, it doesn't quite seem to fit.  We'll see what I think in the morning ^_^;;;;  One thing that definitely did cause issues for me though is I'm still sort of kind of working on how to use Vallejo Thinner Medium...  Results are more consistent, I suspect it's just getting used to a new process (and getting rid of the old habit of adding water!)

*coughs nervously* Uh, ah, errmmm..  Been a while, hasn't it.  Not all that much of an update today, since I was working on other things to actually clear up some of my painting desk (odd how a bunch of medium-large dragons for hubby take up so. much. space!), but....

So yeah, greenstuff was today's goal, and while I didn't get much done, I did get started on filling gaps on one of the rat ogres...

IMG_20190728_215717.thumb.jpg.105758120b91cf019a91fc372e32d63c.jpgIMG_20190728_215729.thumb.jpg.0036e45ecb3f58cf0e7053b2c1abdb62.jpg

^He unfortunately got a bad case of "severed head" while being worked on.  Paws were starting to shake pretty bad while holding tools, and he fell... head first.  Found his head, but couldn't find the bit of greenstuff I had been trying to add in.

^Oh well, it isn't like this is something terribly bad that's hard to pin...  And I was contemplating adding in some sort of "spiked collar" to one of them, so...  Now that this one has a semi-sizeable gap at his neck...  Oh hey look, spiked collar candidate!

Now that's taking rat-lemons and turning them into rat-lemonade! Good to see these fellas progress.

Only question is what colour to go with for the armour.  Blackened steel, bronze, copper, prom night pink (with a red glaze or something)...

As a Rat he could have some kind of rusty armor.

Crawling through Skavenblight won't result in shining armor.

So either rusty or blackened steel I would say.
