03205: Friar Stone, Traveling Monk

I painted this late last year and posted him up on the Facebook page. This is the updated image using my new camera/backdrop setup. Please enjoy. As usual C&c always wellcomed.

My C&C: It is really good. You are consistent and you hit the shadows great. You have brush control. You got good expression and character on the face. Areas to improve: standard mantra of "push the contrast". You can bright your highlights up further in general. If you are so motivated, work on smooth blending. You're close to it already - just keep refining that. The contrast overall in the piece is low; perhaps that is his character, he likes all subtle earth tones. His patches are bright, and that rocks. But if you had the robes or the shawl a generally darker tone or lighter tone, you'd have each section of the figure more distinct. This sort of contrast isn't the same as looking at the shadows and highlights, and can totally be ignored if color choice is "the character likes it". But it is stuff to consider. 

 

Is he for use in a roleplaying game? He looks like he'd fit right in drinking some beer with travelers

Thank you ! Thank you! Thank you!  Just the type of feedback I am looking for! I mainly just paint for fun so he was not for any particular RPG but, one never knows, he may get a chance to be a NPC pr a PC in the future. I had plans for him to be used in Frostgrave though.
