Those look very good. Sorry no one's commented yet.

I've played around with Hero Forge, but I've never been willing to pay the prices based on concerns about the actual quality. What if the material choices was used for these figures, and how smooth were the figures?

I had the same concerns and was assured by some pro painters that they're actually fairly decent as long as youre not expecting competition grade.  So I pulled the trigger and the figure came in yesterday.  Its pretty good! The lines were not nearly as prominent as I feared they would be.  I'll be painting it up this week, but I would be surprised if any of the lines show through at all.  Its definitely way way below even the slimmest mold line.

What Material option did you use?

@Disciple of Sakura the quality has gotten much better since they first started a few years ago. The plastic is smooth, and you barely notice the printing lines once you get some paint on them. They are a bit pricey Tumalis, but you are creating your own custom figure.

These 2 are for a client, and I've painted a lot of Hero Forge figures over the course of several years, and that's including their horrible white plastic figures. I have 2 figures from their earlier plastic stock. I prefer what they are using now, which is the grey material (black) rather than the clear plastic. I had Hero Forge print them, as I don't own a 3D printer at this time.

They look great! What kind of primer did you use?

I tried painting a Heroforge recently and used a spray primer (Krylon Paint+Primer, white) and it just did not cure well.

For primer, for any mini, Badger Stynylrez is super good and cheap.  It dries hard, bonds well, shrinks to conform to not obscure detail.  Brush on or airbrush on.  There's little reason to use anything else.

@TheMandolinFor the Hero Forge I use the Badger Stynlrez primers for the same reason @rfusca mentioned. I was given a box of all the colors from Ken himself at a local Warhammer tourney I was helping at. I paint a lot of figures over the course of a year, so it's nice to have the larger bottles of primer, and different colors to choose from.

For Bones I use either that, Reaper's blue or brown liners, or Reaper's brush on black primer.

I like what you've done with them -- harmonious color palettes, good treatment of the two different skin tones (pale and olive), good contrast in the highlighting and shading to convey material.

Your clients should be pleased!
