03383: Vampire Spawn

These are a couple of modern undead, Reaper's 03383: Vampire Spawn sculpted by Derek Schubert.

 

I didn't make a WIP thread for them. Question, comments, and critiques are welcome as always.

It is straight (Carbon) Black and (Titanium) White, the simplest color mix I use.

 

(Granted, it’s over Burnt Umber, so there might be some warmer nuances here and there.)

 

I don’t use this grey for anything else. Most of my greys are fairly complex mixes of complementary colors.

 

I have tried to paint vampires with more subtle skin tones, but I just don’t seem to have the knack. An early effort was Hasslefree’s Dionne, and I spoiled her skin tone at the last minute with a light brown wash of shadow. Oops.

 

So for me it’s straight monochrome black and white, for that preternatural, uncanny look.
