Getting to Know You, April 2018

Recommended Posts

Bad luck on Friday the 13th is simply self fulfilling prophecies and the human knack for looking for patterns.

We had a black kitten once, named Teal'c.  We were going to keep him, but a) our other two cats didn't like him (probably because they were 7-8 years old females and he was a psycho male kitten) and b) one of our neighbor's friends fell in love with him, so we let her take him.

Questions for April 13:  Do you consider Friday the 13th to be an unlucky day?  Do you now or have you ever owned a black cat?

I do not, nor am I concerned about entering the 13th floor of a building.

We have a cat that has probably around 60-70% black hair, but that's about as close as I've come. Frankly, I wish he had even less white hair, given how much he's shedding right now.

I was about to say "no" when my chair bumped one of the hanging display cases setting off a chain reaction of wildly tilting cases & cascading minis; SO...there are more things in Heaven & Earth than are dreamed of in your philosophy. Now if I was a Knight Templar I could say "yes' with conviction.

I did have a little black cat named Stookey. That was a long time ago though.

Not unlucky. 13 tends to be lucky for me.

No black cats  Always wanted one. Never in a position to have one.

Not this one. But who knows, maybe?

I have never owned a cat of any color.

No more than any other day.

We've had a lot of black cats; 'Dini, Onyx, Hector, Paris, Fetish and Miss Cat, just to name a few. Of all of those, only Miss Cat is still with us; she is a lovely, affectionate purrball, and she is one of those black cats that shows up as a dark, chocolatey brown when the sunlight gets her fur just right. She chirps at us a lot.

I like Friday the 13! My mom and I actually consider it lucky and usually get a scratcher at some point during the day. I haven't had a black cat, but, if I weren't allergic, I'd get one in a heartbeat.

I would say plushies would count, if you are allergic to the real thing.

I am also told that Siberian cats are non-offensive, but your mileage may significantly vary, and I would test this assertion with a great deal of care, were I in your shoes.

I consider it a day like any other, with slightly higher than usual luck.

Haven't owned a black cat, and while I always wanted to, I'm now allergic to them so can't.

I'm not fussed about days of the week/numbers/superstition. If I could go by color, I'd absolutely love a fluffy black cat or one of those orange/black torties, but the cats that chose me are simple tabbies. ::):

Considering I've had *good* luck today (found my engineer's iron ring I believed lost 4 months ago, 3000km away), I have to conclude that no, I don't consider it unlucky.

I never owned a cat period (my dad hated pets, though they found him oddly likeable). I'd like to have a cat, but my career/lifestyle would make it an unhappy kitty, they deserve better.

Friday the 13th is my lucky day! ::): When I was growing up, everyone was superstitious about it being an inauspicious day, so I set out specifically to make it my lucky day.

I don't consider Friday the 13th to be any more unlucky than any other day, which looking back at my life doesn't set the bar very high.  I don't think I've owned a black cat.  There was a cat we had when I worked a screwy schedule and I don't really remember what color it was.

Nope, just another day in my book. I've always had a black cat growing up. And my current fur baby is black (mostly) as well.

My best friend was born on a Friday the 13th so we never considered it unlucky. I've owned many black cats, some pure black and some black and white. The last one died this winter but he was an outdoor/barn cat not house pet.

The rules as they currently stand (in addition to all regular forum rules):

      1. Every day, or so (unless I am out or ill or some thing) I will post a question.
1.5. Should I be unable to post a question for the day (or send a recently asked one!) a crack team of deputy quisitors, former quisitors, and random forum members are all chomping at the bit to step in and post one...
      2. In theory there is a 24 hour span to answer that question before the next question is posted.
2.5. (Rule 2 is the most frequently ignored rule.)
      3. Questions are going to be posted sometime before 1 AM Reaper time (US Central).
      4. Everyone is encouraged to suggest future questions to be posted via PM to me...
      5. You do not have to answer every question to play...
      6. If a question is TMI or N/A simply wait for the next question.. ..or post that you decline to answer (clues regarding why can be fun...unless TMI).
      7. Weekend questions may take the form of two or three day quests, starting on Friday or Saturday.

The first question shall be posted after a brief pause to prevent the merging of posts.
