No, but I did appear on a campus safety poster back in college.

No.  There have been times when I've wondered if it would be a good idea to do so, for exercise and discipline if nothing else.

I did Karate as a kid.

I liked it but was never any good, had to leave in the end because I got too old for the children's class (somehow I ended up the sole pre-teen in a class of mainly 6 year olds).

Not unless you count archery. I could shoot someone with a 25lbs bow.... yay? So no, not really. My friend/personal trainer had me doing some kick-and-escape practices though as part of a workout. Pretty much practicing kicking someone in the knees or balls while getting up from the ground, then running.

No real classes for self defense or combat though.

I know karate, judo, taekwondo, krav maga, akido, and a bunch of other intimidating sounding words.

Something like that!

It was my one and only ever modelling gig where somebody was "trying to steal my backpack" and suggesting that at night you should use the bus line (which was actually very good).

Of course the irony is that the person "stealing" my backpack was one of the bus drivers. ::P:

Nope. I find street smarts and running away to be sufficient.

That and I never found classes that had a convenient schedule for me, or that weren't meant for children,.

Naginata for one semester? The fine art of hitting people with sticks. I took it because I'm supposed to use a cane to walk, thus while I look to be at my weakest I shall never feel unarmed.

Same! I would love to but there's time, money, and an adult class. I only ever see two of those things at a time, heh.

Holy moly, I love this. I'd love to learn how to use a bo.

Does archery count?  How about defensive driving? Firearms training?

I watched Kung Fu Theater on that USA Network cable channel during my formative years and as a highschooler, I  self-administered performance enhancing substances and re-watched those flicks along with late 80's era action movies.  So there's an osmosis type thing going on.

As a kid my brother and dad were obsessed with karate. I was 7 years younger than my brother so there was never anything like a fair fight but I was their practice dummy. When my brother graduated he became a blue belt in kickboxing. He'd come home and teach his new techniques to us. During this time my dad also taught a self defense course which I was obligated to go to. After high school I dabbled a bit in judo and karate but nothing serious. Last year my kids and I started karate but the sensei was too crippled up and retired. We do a little at home but without regular classes we just don't do enough.

Only the one called Running Away From Cow.

I have a large amount of knowledge of that one and a bit of experience with the related discipline Being Run Over By Cow.

Welcome to the last 2019 instalment of Getting to Know You, December 2019 Edition.

The rules as they currently stand ( ...should you chose to accept them... )

      1. Every day, or so (unless I am out or ill or something) I will post a question.
1.5. Should I be unable to post a question for the day a crack team of deputy quisitors, former quisitors, are likely chomping at the bit to step in and post one...
      2. In theory there is a 24 hour span to answer that question before the next question is posted.
2.5. (Rule 2 is the most frequently ignored rule.)
      3. Questions will typically be posted between  06:00 hours and 09:00 hours CET. (Central European Time UYC +1)***
3.5 (...that is 23:00 to 02:00 hours RST Reaper Standard Time UTC -6)***
      4. Everyone is encouraged to suggest future questions to be posted via PM to me or one of the other quisitioners.
(But my PM box is stuffed full gimme 2-3 days to clear it out...)
      5. You do not have to answer every question to play.
      6. If a question is TMI or N/A simply wait for the next question.. ..or post that you decline to respond (clues regarding why can be fun...unless TMI).
      7. Weekend questions will often take the form of two day quests, running Saturday to Sunday.

***CLEARLY I WILL ON OCCASION BEND RULES 3. And 3.5.

It's time again for a year-end roundup of the figures I managed to finish last year. These are the figures I finished during the calendar year of 2018, which was, let me tell you, another ... interesting year.

I was absent from here for much of 2018 (starting mid-August 2017), but that doesn't mean I wasn't painting. I hope to post a bunch of pics over the next week detailing all the minis I painted before August 2018. March featured a ton of stuff for convention GMing and I also painted a bunch for Tomb of Annihilation. And just whatever I felt like.
I'm going through stuff elsewhere to see what's been done and soon I'll be posting the list of minis (and also linking to other show-off threads).
      Tablescapes Terrain WIP
Terraincrate Terrain/dressing WIP 1- Wizard's Study general WIP
Wizkids pre-primed minis and more minis terrain & dressing
      Bad Squiddo Freya's Wrath
      Folklore the Affliction minis
      GW mini WIP
      Reaper Bones minis
      77434 Yeti Chieftain
      77460 Dwarf Butcher
77624 Altar to Dagon 77343 Goroloth 77166 Balto Burrowell 77142 Bones Blacksmith WIP Show-off
The missing minis are yet to come... I need to find where they were stashed out of the way.
      Total count 20 (actually, __)
