I have 3 pairs of dress shoes. down from 4 ( two brown two black ) now used for going out, used to be used for work.

3 pairs of slip-ons.  1 summer, two winter. (these are my normal shoes)

2 pair of sneakers. One for gym one for outdoors.

1 pair bike shoes.

2 pairs XC Ski boots (two styles of binding)

2 pair high top hiking boots (probably should make one into mudding boot)

1 pair low hiking boots

2 pair mudding shoes for outside work in the mud.

1 pair sandals 1 pair flip flops

So 18 pairs.  I have the space to store them so not too many but now that I am retired I could go to 2 pairs of dress shoes. And now I probably should get rid of my old style XC bindings.  But this is too much thought for shoes.

Question, April 25: How many pairs of shoes is too many and how close to that limit are you?

  • I have a nice pair of leather shoes (Dr. Martens)
  • Pair of gym shoes for home
  • Pair of gym shoes for my former work camp.
  • Pair of hiking shoes.
  • Pair of winter shoes (shoe sized winter boots with nice traction)
  • Pair of steel toed boots at home.
  • Pair of steel toed boots at work.
  • Tons of worn out shoes that never quite get thrown out for some reason.

Though I don't have any hard set limit, I usually only buy shoes when the current pair is getting worn down. The soles of my last pair of shoes had gotten so flat that I kept slipping on smooth wet surfaces, nearly killing myself on several occasions in a single day.

P.S. Also one pair of flip-flops for the gym shower and home made comfy wool slippers (that are always on my feet at home)

When you say shoes, do you actually mean shoes - i.e. the things that we wear on our feet?  Or is "shoes" a proxy for other things that people on this forum may be buying and hoarding?

You know what - never mind.  I'll take the safe option and say that there is no such thing as too many shoes! :B):

Two pairs of black dress shoes

Two pairs of brown dress shoes

one pair of "inside" shoes and one pair of slippers

Two pairs of sneakers.

One pair of work shoes and one pair of foul weather boots.

Honestly, that feels like too many shoes, but, in practice, it's really handy.  I tend to ruin one pair of dress shoes.  I'm currently short one pair of brown dress shoes (being a men's size 7 1/2 to 8 hurts when searching for shoes that fit), and I have others that fill the other roles.

I have hiking boots, black doc martens boots, fancy brown boots, and some moccasins. Only the hiking boots aren't knee high haha. I love boots!

I used to love heels too, but I haven't worn them in a few years since I broke my ankle.

I am pretty sure I have too many. Whatever definition of too many you want to use. I have about 4-5 pairs that see at least weekly use, then dress shoes of all sorts, awesome boots, running shoes, then costume shoes. I do have shoes that I modified for costumes I only wore once and a few that I have yet to actually wear. So yeah. My collection can safely be considered 'too many'.

I think my favorite fun shoes are the black glitter boots.

I have really wide feet with arches that collapse when I step.

I wear shoes under protest. Shoes hurt. Shoes try to make me keep an arch. Shoes try to shove my toes into my other toes. Shoes keep me from picking things up off the floor with my monkey feet.

Yay monkey feet! I do that too ::D:

Me three!

When I was little I hardly wore shoes at all, so I had some serious hobbit calluses on my feet. As I grew up the occasions for wear shoes became more frequent, to the point wear I could no longer chase the ice cream man down in bare feet on hot pavement. Le sigh!

Question April 26:  If you could freeze time for 1 hour, what would you do with that hour?

I don't understand the question.  Like, what are the parameters of this "frozen" time?  Is this a once in a lifetime thing, or do we have the ability to do it repeatedly?  Can/do you interact with people or stuff in this frozen hour?  Can you unfreeze people to join you?

The way I'm reading this question currently is, "what would you do with 1 extra hour in your lifespan"; and my answer to that is "probably nothing special."
