Bleurgh, I'd planned to sleep another hour or so, but my brain is like a toddler on Christmas morning. "OH BOY! Is it time to wake yet?!" :bday:

Body: No, now go back to bed and get some more sleep.

Brain: But there's so much to dooooo! ::o:

Body: Well at least close your eyes and rest for another 45 minutes if you can't sleep. <_<

Brain: But-!

Body: BED, YOUNG LADY.

Just one note, the gem on that staff is fantastic.

Yes, that really is a well done gem... I'm gonna have to get her and the dwarf in metal I think...

Thank you, friends! It's really very rough close up, but I've been trying to apply three principles I learned in Tish Wolter's "Good fast painting" class at  ReaperCon:

1) Don't bother with anything not actually visible when the figure is resting on the table; shade it and leave it.

2) Painting is all about optical illusions, so oftentimes you can get away with giving the impression that something is there, without having to fully paint it.

3) Remember that unless it's for a competition, the closest you'll usually see the mini at is arm's length. Don't bother with details unless they're visible from that distance.

It's really been helping me to stay focused on the important areas instead of narrowing in on the backs of shields and undersides of cloaks and such. ^_^

Gonna be another prob 30 mins for me to wake up proper and stuff food in my face, then it's back to work!

No, there is no sleeping! You must set the record for fastest completion while accomplishing the goblin rulez challenge!

Says the guy who wouldn't even be able to get one of the adventurers done in 7 days even without restricting himself to the goblin rulez.

Ahaha well, while your confidence in me is flattering, I have zero plans to set any sort of speed record here. I'm perfectly content to leave that honor to @buglips*the*goblin. While both general practice and doing these Challenges have increased my speed, I'm still not a particularly fast painter. I prefer to spend my time focusing on fun tiny fiddly details, which is one part of why these 7 day Challenges are, well, challenging for me. ^_^

Not sure I'd have the heart to use a $70-150 figure and not put all the effort into detailing. Gimme a month and the brush of my choice and that would still be challenging to me! Yeah yeah... simple green... but I don't want to resort to that or deal with scrubbing! You are brave/insane for these ::P:

Understandable! But for me, not only did I not pay that much for it because Kickstarter, I know that I can purchase the adventurers again later and repaint them to a higher standard. Which is why I'm not nearly as focused on them, and why I will be taking slightly more care with Dragon and, to a lesser degree, the terrain. ^_^

Going to tackle Robin first, since looking over him he's like 75% done already. Yay for enveloping cloak and long beard!

I know OneBoot got hers from Kickstarter, but I purchased all but Ma’al Drakar at full price specifically to do these challenges. The challenges are a special kind of crazy and they take a special kind of crazy to do them, but I sincerely never would have painted these huge figures without them. And believe it or not, even though it’s a lot of paint slopping and not worrying so much about the result, it not only made me a faster painter, it made me a better painter as well. It’s like a 7 day boot camp where you’re your own drill instructor. Paint faster or die trying. I have almost died 4 times, but now I paint faster. ::P:

I totally believe it will make you a better painter! It is a skill to get paint applied consistently and expediently.

Hey, still nice work on the greens!

Did you just glue the top of the staff on, or pin it?

Glued; I don't have any pins fine enough, and even if I did I'm not steady enough right now to try to drill into something that tiny. I'd probably end up drilling through his face somehow.

That’s how that beard paint happened. ::P:

I think it was also your subconscious need to make all things shiny taking control. :poke:

All joking aside, he looks really great! Enjoy that break, you deserve it!
