The stripes on the cloth rock! Just as a sculpt - what is the floofy black clothish stuff at her thighs?

Thanks!  What I think you are referring to are the cargo/military-style pockets on her shorts.  They seem to have two top closure flaps which poof out there!

She is great! Makes me want to pull out some of my Infinity models to paint -- even though they would look nowhere near as good. *Sigh* so many unpainted models, so little time. ::(:

Almost there!!!

Still mulling over colors for the gun, but I think it will almost need to be some shade of pink for the piece to work compositionally.  Or at least black/gray with some strong pink accents.

If it is totally pink, she'll be accused of buying Barbie weaponry. If it is black/gray with pink accents, it matches her outfit and is just added flare to solid weaponry. ^_^

She looks already awesome.

Even pink couldn't ruin her.

Man, i wish I could paint like this

Great work!

My wife was actually very hesitant about the idea of a pink gun as well, so I thought I should explain my thought process a little:

The biggest consideration is that I already used pink (and am very happy with the results) for her collar thingy and goggles.  Thus, I worry that, without some pink elsewhere in the miniature, the inclusion of pink only near her face will unbalance the composition from a color standpoint (think "rule of three").  However, I also worry that doing too much pink on the gun will inadvertently make the gun the focal point of the whole miniature, a position that should really fall to her face (as it does now)!

Also, in defense of pink guns in general, I am something of a mild firearms enthusiast, and (while they are a polarizing subject) pink guns do exist even in real life!

I realize I am not helping my cause with the "Barbie" dream rifle AR15 here, but less obnoxious pink weapons do exist:

The desaturation of this final assault rifle is one of the ways I was contemplating keeping the gun from becoming a focal point.

However, all of this gun color information aside, I was also considering a bright pink because it would fit with the cyberpunk aesthetic I am shooting for with this mini.

BUT, now that we have gotten through all of this background information, I am actually currently leaning towards something else entirely for the gun:  a two-tone scheme with a black lower and a dark red upper!  I believe that this scheme could still keep the gun from becoming the focal point of the miniature while providing some color balance with the pink.  However, as I glance at my own WIP pictures throughout the day, who's to say I won't come up with something else entirely by the time I get to paint tonight!

I should probably say that, regardless of what color scheme I finally go with, I am still strongly considering like a "Hello Kitty" sticker or something equally cutesy!  :;):

Just keep painting because you enjoy it and you will inevitably keep on improving!  I tell people this all the time, but I used to swear I'd never be very good at this hobby and that I'd never be willing to put in more than 6 or 7 hours per mini, but I just had so much fun that I kept improving and working longer and harder almost despite myself!  And, for what it's worth, I still look at the greats of our hobby and think "man, I wish I could paint like that" too, but it's precisely that wishing that will keep us improving!  ::):

We're gonna need a face tutorial too. I love this.

Also there are lots of cerakoted guns in all shades of pink these days. Maybe a pink camo pattern?

Fantastic work as always, can't wait to see the rest. Cheers.

To be frank: I heard the same argument over and over again. Even here on the forums. And I keep telling people that I don't have got the ability to even spend 2 hours or so of time painting. I just don't have got the concentration and the patience anymore. I've absolutely stopped to enjoy painting. And the more I try, the less I do.

I thought it would be better since I am out of shift work, but it didn't improve. It got worse.

And the longer I hear this argument, the more it makes me loose my motivation. I cannot and I do not want to talk about it anymore - so .... just see it as a compliment and admiration and a Thank You for sharing your work with us.

If I remember correctly, the gun she is holding is a combi rifle. That devides the gun into several elements which can be painted differently.

From my point of view, a completely pink gun wouldn't make sense. As you wrote, it would shift the focal point away from the miniature to the gun. And though such coloured weapons may exist, they look somehow wrong. But what you could do, would be using pink as some kind of ornament or so.

If I look at the gun in this picture:

080bd4757cd7a0d32668f3907a317d11.jpg

You have got a lot of small surfaces, which could be easily used to apply pink elements.

When I did my Aleph units, I did it like this:

jykm-2il-871e.jpg

(in case picture doesn't show up check ->here<-)

You could match the gun to the character's colours, but also implement pink as an element. There are enough surfaces to perfectly dose it.

But then again - it's your miniature and I am just giving thoughts from how I imagine it in my inner eye.

Best regards

You've definitely convinced me that I need this mini.

Mine will look nowhere near this good, but I'd like to try.

I really love the power symbol on her shirt... The pink added to her collar is really great, and sets of her gorgeous face very well.

I wonder whether the pattern on her tights can extend somewhere? It's so striking, but it's a little out of place to my eye. Perhaps the bright hex-pattern lines could be incorporated into the body of the gun somehow?

I definitely am aware that pink guns do exist, and those examples are pretty stellar. However, now I really just want to see you freehand an accurate Hello Kitty sticker somewhere ::P:

Yeah, my "evil" friend got me into Infinity because the models are almost all really cool. The rule set though is a bit bloated for my liking, but as long as you are cool with simply playing friendly games with your friends (as opposed to going to tourneys, etc.) then you can easily dumb the rules down quite a bit.

And yeah, I'll be ecstatic if I ever get to half this good. *Note: That's not a woe is me post, just a realization that I am a long way off, though improving somewhat. I just don't have the time to dedicate to it as much as I would perhaps like. :)

Every now and then I've seen people start up a WIP thread that's more or less along the lines of "clean the shelf of (blank)".  For me, it's of hopes and dreams, of projects started, but not quite realized, finished, or...  Even painted.  This isn't necessarily going to be one of those more serious minivember, one mini a day, or even a burn towards the finish line to actually "complete" the one a week RPChallenge, uh, challenge.  That and while I'd love to do minivember or even 99 minis in 99 days both of those seem a tad too... Intense for me.  Especially with how often I get distracted from such with playing computer games, longer days at work, or even starting to have a social life!  (Yeah, some of the Infinity gamers in town are starting to slowly coax me into coming out to play and do things, it's kind of nice!)

To meet my own goal this year of beating 2018's count, I'd need another "14 points".  Coincidentally, that's fairly close to the mark of 18 for October through December, so I figure why not!  ...I guess I am going for the RPChallenge bit after all, but I'm going to give a whirl at a full twenty, because I like that number more than 14 or 18!

In short, my goal is to try and clear some of the assembled and primed backlog I have, and focus on mainly getting those painted up and FINISHED.  Naturally I'm not going to lock out the prospect of adding in a few more minis to the table (I am more than likely going to be building up a tournament HaqqIslam force for February 2020, which will require more units to be acquired, assembled, and painted), but as for some of the things that come to mind for being taken care of...
Getting Wyrmgear's mods sculpted - I really would like to see him at least standing up at the end of the year Additional work on my Rainbow Dragon Challenge Ebonwrath - he's taking up a decent amount of space on my desk, plus, hey, DRAGON! Infinity Red Veil, and Beyond Red Veil boxed set - at least the HaqqIslam portion, anyways, although I'd like to at least get the Yu Jing assembled and based too Various CAVs in various states Other, smaller dragons! (Pathfinder Red Dragon, Temple Dragon, and I think I have a Narthrax hiding around somewhere too) minotaurs, gnolls, and some Skaven character/heroes A few minis that have become "paint catchers" for when I mix up too much
There's probably more, but still.  I'm not going to keep a full on tally of things, but either way, I'm hoping to work on, and finish, at least 14 "points" worth of minis, but 18 "points" would be awesome... Or even more.  Apparently, as of this post, there are ten weeks and four days until the end of 2019.

What am I mostly aiming for by doing this thread?  Well, by having a WIP I'm regularly updating, I'm hoping to not only get more work done close to every day on miniatures (even if it's just twenty minutes), but also get back into the habit of sitting down and hobbying every day.  I really do like how relaxed I am when doing it, and it helps me cool and calm down too.  That and, oh yeah, I already mentioned the habit thing.

Anyways, I did mention something else in the beginning of all of this about something silly, well...  Let's put it this way....

^I was okay with some of them trying to teach others how to "roll over" and "play dead", even if it meant my Switch is a little harder to get to....
I was even okay with some of them guarding one of my spare graphics cards, and the Mission Models iridescent and pearl paints...

^Yup, even didn't really mind them taking over a shelf in my cube shelf (there are more minis hiding in the ice cream pail, they're in there due to having been washed) - Actually, this helped kickstart me being able to paint again, since ALL of those were on my desk before tidying up...

But once you try and hold my benching rig hostage....  Or you try to do dark rituals around my turntables...  Oh no, this needs to be stopped.  if I let them continuing running amok, they'll try and take over the entire living room!  (there were additional pics, but it kind of felt like things were dragging on).

^So...  Here's how my desk looked last time I tidied it up.  It looks a little different, and somewhat messier now, but that's because I have a few projects on the go that I was working on before this post.  Not all of the minis in that picture are mine (the Pathfinder Red Dragon belongs to hubby, for example) but still.  There's a decent amount of stuff on the table, to say the least.

^So here's where I left off two days ago - I apparently didn't take a picture of yesterday's table, but there were two more Haqq minis done, and I suspect that's also simply because we played Division 2 for like two hours yesterday, then I worked on minis, then I went to bed rather tired...

^And how things are looking so far today.  All seven minis from the Operation: Red Veil started set are now assembled (although they'll be an eighth one added in eventually due to having been sent a double by accident - Corvus was quick and prompt when replying on their mispack line... Err, email), and bases for the three miniatures from Beyond Operation: Red Veil are drying, so they'll be assembled tomorrow.  The reason why the seventh guy doesn't have anything extra on his base yet is quite simply because I'd assembled him tonight.  I'm not quite sure what kind of colours I'll be going with on my Haqq, but I strongly suspect they won't really be all that traditional, or at least studio paint jobs.  Totally lost on what colours I'll be going with for the Oathsworn Minotaur as well, but I'll worry about that when I get to that front - today's focus was assembly and basing.

So finally got around to finishing up a project now that I am fully moved into the new home and work is settling down a bit. This is the first of two Desperadoes that come in the box. One cool thing about the Infinity line (imho) is that the two bikers are completely different, even the bikes are different. Just nice from a variety standpoint. These guys are described as bikers first, soldiers second, so I decided that even though he is technically military, that he would have a little bit of bling on his bike. This guy is my usual table-top quality as that's really about as good as it gets for me at this stage, but I am always looking for any comments, critiques, suggestions, etc. There are parts in a lot of my projects now where I feel the improvement and others that still show me my newbieness. The leather on the hat, coat and gloves was done using the Oiled Leather triad. I'm not a huge fan of the Burnt Orange for the highlight, but even though I had issues with the blending (a notable issue I have in general) I think it kinda/sorta worked here for the items. It just makes them look a bit rougher, which I think is ok, at least from a table top standpoint.

Finally, based on a suggestion from my last bike that I did, I added some of the terrain color to some of the lower parts of the bike to show that he's been riding through the cracked earth desert for a while, etc. Please let me know your thoughts on this as this was kind of a blind experiment for me. Too much? Too little? Should I have simply glazed it on instead? As I said, I'm always looking for suggestions as I very, very slowly improve. :)

As always, thanks for any and all comments, suggestions, critiques, etc.!

Hi everyone!  As some of you know from watching my progress over in the WIP section of the forums, I've been busily working away on Cordelia!  This super cute and characterful little mini was an absolute blast to paint, and I appreciated everyone's advice and encouragement!

So, without further ado, here's my cyberpunk version of Cordelia, now to be known as Synth-ia!

Once again, thank you so much to everyone who followed along at home!!!

      Hi guys,

So I got a greater number of Infinity Aleph minis from a guy who doesn't find them fit to his playstyle.

Anyway - I decided to create my own bases, opposite to the clean and attractive style of the Aleph minis using some kind of a long lost and ruined city.

      Like this:

I also got Atalanta and her SpotBot and I think that this spotbot has quite a personality and I want to create his base accordingly.

      (Picture for reference)

So I thought that it would be fitting to have some kind of robot head or so he could stare at. (Like to 2b in the picture below - but being a mechanical rabbit with sad eyes).

So I thought about using a space marine head but I don't find it fitting to the whole setting and it would just disappear between the rubble and the debris I prepared for the base. And it wouldn't match the style of Infinity.

On the other hand - I tried using a bandai mecha/gundam head and it is way too big for a 25mm base. Does anyone have an idea which could help me solve the problem?
