Those are not samples. They are colorized 3D renders.


One of the obvious tells is how the “transparent” parts have no optical distortion when they pass in front of other parts. There’s other clues, but that’s the easiest to spot.


While I understand the necessity of this practice sometimes, I wish it were clearly labeled. A 3D render is always going to look way sharper than any actual physical material can and colorizing the render will give an even more false impression, since real paint has at least a tiny bit of thickness which will in some tiny way soften the details.
