I went to bed and tossed and turned for like 20 minutes and then decided that I couldn't sleep while her face looked like that.

She looks like a cross between Courtney Love and Liza Minnelli.

I'm much happier now though. The left eye is a little worse for wear, but you're barely even going to see that eye once the left hand is on, so it's actually fitting that it's overly dark.

OK. BACK TO BED WITH ME.

A mole? Really now?

Hm. To be honest, I don't find it fitting. It somehow looks wrong on the miniature.

Just a difference in taste, I think! It's a bit of a nod to the original artwork, and "beauty marks" are a pretty iconic element of classic pinup girls. I like to imagine her drawing it on herself.

Definitely makes sense as a nod to classic pinup girl style.

Oh, I am sure it is a difference in taste. That's why I wrote: I don't find it fitting.

I am just giving my thoughts. It's your miniature after all.

I don't know why I have to write that so often ...

No worries, I'm just telling you where I'm coming from with it! ^_^

I hadn't realized I'd forgotten to update here in so long. So a few things have happened over the past couple of days. Let's see here.

I attached her hand. Before I attached it, I Brown Linered it and then threw some shadow skin colour on the fingers/part of the hand that would be toward her face. Parts that won't need delicate work but certainly needed a touch of colour. After attaching it, I realized that I'd missed a rather large mold line over the top of one of her fingers, so that was quite a bother trying to clean up while also trying not to knock her hand back off.

I then painted up the vial on the contraption she's holding. I basecoated with P3 Coal Black, then added tiny bits of yellow (not sure what yellow) up to a pure yellow right at the liquid line. I also added some grey to the Coal Black for the empty part of the vial. Then I highlighted the glass with some dots of pure white. I hadn't painted a liquid filled glass vial before so I watched like 6 videos about it before attempting it.  I think it turned out pretty well.

Then I worked on her stockings. I wanted them to be blueish to bring down the blue of her hair without being too matchy. I think she's a pretty extra sort of lady, but still, matching her stockings to her hair seemed like a bit much. ::P: So I took the P3 Coal Black and mixed in some of the Warcolours Marine 4 to lay down this really lovely sort of navy colour. Then I added varying amounts of skin tones in very thin layers to highlight up. Lots of glazing to smooth out the blends, but I purposefully kept all of my brush strokes small and horizontal to give a slight texture. I wanted the stockings to be somewhat opaque, but to have a nice sheen to them. Her left side is relatively boring, compared to the other angles of her, so to bring some visual interest to that side, I did a little bit of freehand holes/a run in the stockings.

I love taking pictures of her from this angle. This is the kind of silhouette that keeps me excited about art.

With the Kingdom Death range seemingly moving towards 3D printed minis for their non-game stuff, I reluctantly picked up a pair (My only previous experience with a 3D printed mini being a very anime-styled witch I got from Ebay. I opened the package, looked at the tiny mini encased in a giant mass of web-like filaments, had a flashback to trying to clean Forgeworld resin minis (The triangles! To this day they haunt me still!) and shoved her straight back on Ebay.):-

(Astri the Promised is the big one, the other is Badar the Venomous).

Fortunately, these ones were nowhere near as bad!
They'd already been given a pretty good tidy up, so all I had to do was remove any remaining nubs and give them a good scrub with a wet toothbrush.

Hopefully they'll be dry by tomorrow, so they can be assembled and undercoated.

Presenting the Sniper, part of the Echoes of Death Vol. 3 set by Kingdom Death, looking snazzy in her Sunstalker outfit.

Another one where I had trouble coming up with a colour scheme, but I think she looks okay, just rather colourful!

As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.

Since I haven’t had a WIP in a very long time, I thought this mini would be perfect for it. I plan to paint her up for a Christmas gift for a friend and figured to keep me on track I’d do a WIP.

I have a few minis in progress she’ll be my main priority after my Darksword Stephanie Law Bard. I prepped her and primed yesterday after the humidity finally dropped.

My current projects in various stages on my desk.

And just the pinup after some prep work

A few places I could have spent more time on but figured I’ll prime and see what stands out.

I used army painter matte black primer followed by Tamiya fine white primer. For the bits on her base I left them in black since she will be the focal point no need to use white on them, it’ll help the colors be a bit more muted.

And finally my quick mock up for color checking. I usually just print a stock photo and use my paints over it to plan the general scheme.

Now to finish up my bard then onto tackling her flesh. Since she’ll have a hint of sheer with her stocking I needed to be sure the color for her skin and the sheer works and won’t lose the effect due to the color choices.

Feel free to post C&C throughout, or ask questions. I’m always happy to share what I can. I’ll do my best to share the steps I take and colors used.

      Happy painting everyone.

Needed a mini for my most recent D&D character. Since she has a pet rat this one fit the bill and it gave me an excuse to paint up one of my Kingdom Death minis. With the scale being a bit larger then the rest of the party, I kept the base she came with to avoid building one that would give additional height.

I didn’t add her waist piece that added addl braids and skulls to keep her easier to use on the table. Pinning her gave me some fits as I haven’t done it too much with resin pieces. Anyway hope you like her.

So after a substantial break from painting I purchased a new toy….a resin 3D printer (as I don’t have enough unpainted minis). So far I have enjoyed printing some minis even though my favorite will always be pewter.

My first choice to paint of the batch I printed to knock off the rust was this pretty lady Nihae. I printed her at 87.5% as Artisan Guild is too large to suit the rest of my collection. She is about the size of a standard reaper mini printed at this scale.

I printed some ferns and quickly put her on a base so she is ready to hit the table sometime soon.

      C&C welcome.
