Lord of the Dish Pit
Yep, tis the season. Several small explosions and a light scattering of pistol fire from the fields since sunset.
haldir
One of the 2 days I hate having a work night on, 4th of July & Halloween. It's even worst this year as I have the 3rd & 4th as workdays. Oh well, by the time I'm walking to work, the light shows are mostly out. On a happier note, I guess it just got real! I just purchased a roundtrip plane ticket to Las Vegas in February! I'll be attending my first LVO (Las Vegas Open)!! Even thou it's a tabletop gaming convention mostly I will be running a couple rpg games for it. Since I won' be attending RCon next year I guess this is my gaming fix for the year. I'm looking forward to it!!
TripleH
Ugh! I so wanted to hobby tonight, but with the fireworks going off, I have two furballs that won't let me move an inch. Think I'll turn in early tonight and try in the morning. 1

LittleBluberry
Blearg. Very tired, should already be in bed. On the plus side, I finished painting Halbarad from Bones 3, so there's that. Think I'm going to work on the Pathfinder iconic skald next.
Sylverthorne
Local fireworks show was short, bright and loud... about as expected. Only difference from shows of my youth was the part where we were all but underneath it. ^^; Also, close enough to walk there and back.

Emergency Back Up Plan! Take a piece of paper and a pen or pencil. Now draw a large square. Good, now underneath that square draw a few small ovals and circles. Well done! Now on the right of the square draw a few small straight horizontal lines. Let's say 4 or 5 underneath each other. Good, Now draw an apple with a bite out of it at the top. You're done. Now start pushing those ovals and circles. Keep watching that square. Nothing? Hmm, bad WIFI I guess, keep trying! Woohooowoooaarrrooo!!! Youngest Vixen has graduated! Next study in sight! 4 1
redambrosia
Well, it was an actual notebook... spiral bound, with a character back story (and extended family) that I was working on. Instead I had to spend the night filling in adventure records. Le sigh 3

SparrowMarie
I posted a side by side photo yesterday on Instagram of my very first minis painted (in 2013) vs. a more recent mini. I got this comment "2013 is still better than ebay propainted" I almost died laughing. 8
Moderator Chaoswolf Posted July 4, 2018 Moderator Share Posted July 4, 2018 It's funny 'cause it's true. I don't think I'm all that great a painter, but I've seen 'pro painted' stuff on eBay that makes my stuff look spectacular.

So says the guy who's contacts file is a collection of sticky notes, used envelopes and other random pieces of paper because he doesn't have a smart phone and doesn't bother saving them on the puter. 14 minutes ago, Chaoswolf said: It's funny 'cause it's true. It doesn't mean you have to be any good at it. 6

Which is why I take a great deal of joy in telling managers it's true definition when they pontificate on "professionalism".

Most of the time, "pro painted" work is so hideously bad that it actually makes it harder to identify the minis. I saw an auction last night for a lot of propainted minis... They were primered. 6 3

Primered by a professional. That's got to be worth extra bucks don't you think? You wouldn't want a sloppy amateur job like we see in the show off forum here.
